Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients recover from injuries, surgeries, illnesses, and mobility limitations. The PTA assists with treatment plans, therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and patient education to improve physical function and quality of life.
Assist physical therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans.
Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation activities.
Monitor patient progress and document treatment outcomes.
Help patients improve mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and pain management.
Use therapeutic equipment and modalities as directed by the Physical Therapist.
Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safety techniques.
Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
Ensure a clean, safe, and organized therapy environment.
Communicate patient status and concerns to supervising Physical Therapist.
Follow healthcare regulations, infection control, and patient privacy standards.
Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
Active California PTA license.
CPR/BLS certification preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to assist patients with mobility and physical activities.
Experience in outpatient, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or home health settings.
Knowledge of therapeutic exercise techniques and rehabilitation equipment.
Strong patient-care and teamwork skills.
EMR/EHR documentation experience.
