Job Title: Test Engineer
Job Description
The Test Engineer will be responsible for translating product requirements into test strategies that ensure reliability, durability, and overall product performance. This role is hands-on and involves working closely with engineers and technicians to build and execute test systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans for product performance and reliability.
- Design and build automated test systems using robotics and control hardware.
- Perform reliability testing, including HALT, HASS, and accelerated life testing.
- Analyze large datasets and generate reports using Excel and other tools.
- Support root cause analysis using test and warranty data.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams on testing requirements.
- Maintain documentation and test records within PLM or test systems.
- Communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Essential Skills
- Experience in reliability testing and product testing.
- Automation and system development skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using Excel.
- Experience in testing physical consumer products.
- Hands-on experience with building and running test systems.
- Familiarity with automation hardware such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and PLCs.
- Ability to translate product requirements into test plans.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering preferred, but flexible for non-degreed candidates with strong hands-on experience.
- 3–10 years of experience in test engineering.
- Strong mechanical/electrical system understanding.
- Experience working with lab technicians and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple testing projects simultaneously.
Work Environment
The role is based in an on-site lab environment with hands-on testing. Standard working hours are approximately 8:00 AM to 4:30/5:00 PM, with the opportunity to work remotely one day per week. The position involves close collaboration with engineers, technicians, and product teams.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Vista, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $72500.00 - $113740.00/yr.
