Job description
Job Title: Process Technician Plastic Injection Molding Location : Cranston, Rhode Island Duration : Contract Position Summary The Process Technician is responsible for supporting all aspects of the plastic injection molding process to ensure efficient production, quality output, and safe operations. This role assists with daily molding operations, machine start-ups, process adjustments, changeovers, troubleshooting, and operator support in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Start up injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment at the beginning of each shift and verify processes are running within established cycle times and quality standards before releasing to operators
  • Support daily production activities to meet manufacturing schedules by assigning tasks, coordinating workflow, and assisting where needed
  • Provide coverage for operators during scheduled breaks as required
  • Train employees on safety procedures, quality standards, and machine operation practices
  • Communicate and document process adjustments and approved workflow deviations accurately
  • Perform mold and job changeovers following standard operating procedures and setup checklists
  • Safely install molds and complete insert changes to support production schedules
  • Set up and maintain molding workstations using documented process parameters
  • Prepare and manage raw materials through blending, mixing, and drying procedures according to specifications
  • Conduct in-process inspections to ensure products meet quality standards and production requirements
  • Verify finished products are packaged and labeled according to specifications
  • Troubleshoot molding and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain quality production
  • Adjust and optimize process parameters to improve cycle times and product consistency
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing processes and workflow efficiency
  • Monitor department operations to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures
  • Perform machine purging and shutdown procedures at the end of production shifts
  • Support compliance with quality management systems and operational excellence standards
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous experience in thermoplastic injection molding or manufacturing environments strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production setting with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Skills & Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of injection mold tooling, thermoplastic materials, hydraulic injection molding presses, and auxiliary equipment
  • Experience setting molds, entering process parameters, and operating machine HMI controls
  • Ability to use measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Ability to operate scales and count parts by weight
  • Experience reading blueprints and technical drawings preferred
  • Proficiency using hand tools and overhead cranes required
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as IQMS is a plus
  • Experience with Toyo hydraulic injection molding machines is a plus
