Job Title: Financial AnalystJob DescriptionThis Financial Analyst role focuses on creating and analyzing financial projections, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing detailed variance and financial performance analysis. The position partners closely with operational teams to ensure accurate budgeting, reporting, and financial modeling, while also supporting external audits and maintaining robust financial and accounting systems.
Responsibilities
- Create and analyze weekly financial projections for the current month, covering all operational expenses and fuel costs, including detailed analysis of executed purchase orders.
- Execute month-end closing tasks, including preparation and posting of accrual entries and compilation of complete backup documentation.
- Analyze and report on the organization’s financial position, including preparation of variance explanations comparing actual results to plan, budget, and quarterly projections for management.
- Provide support to operational teams by ensuring clear comprehension, proper execution, and accurate forecasting of operational and capital budgets.
- Create and complete annual budgets for vessel operations, fuel, and capital in accordance with the established budget schedule and requirements.
- Provide general support and system and database support for Financials & Supply Management (FSM), Nautical Systems Enterprise (NSE), and Adaptive software systems.
- Track and implement the financial mechanisms of relevant contracts into financial budgeting and reporting processes.
- Provide accounting and financial system guidance to management and staff in other divisions to ensure consistent and accurate financial practices.
- Provide budget assistance to management and staff, helping them develop, manage, and monitor their budgets effectively.
- Provide support for bid-related financial modeling to evaluate opportunities and inform decision-making.
- Provide support for external audit sample requests by preparing and supplying required financial data and documentation.
Essential Skills- In-depth knowledge of accounting and reporting systems.
- Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis, modeling, and reporting.
- Strong accounting skills with a solid understanding of financial principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical abilities, including experience in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively present financial information and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Experience working as a Financial Analyst or in a similar finance or accounting role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience supporting or using Financials & Supply Management (FSM), Nautical Systems Enterprise (NSE), and Adaptive software systems.
- Experience providing financial guidance and budget assistance to management and cross-functional teams.
- Experience supporting external audits, including preparing and delivering financial samples and documentation.
- Familiarity with financial mechanisms within contracts and their integration into budgeting and reporting.
- Ability to work effectively in a corporate environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial data and reporting.
Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a corporate headquarters environment that follows a hybrid work model, with four days onsite and one day working remotely each week. The position works extensively with financial systems and tools, including accounting and reporting platforms, FSM, Nautical Systems Enterprise (NSE), Adaptive software, and advanced Excel. The environment emphasizes collaboration with operational and management teams, structured budgeting cycles, and regular financial reporting deadlines. The role operates in a professional office setting with standard corporate expectations for attire and conduct.
