Applications Engineer – CNC Machining & Customer Support Are you ready to take your engineering expertise to the next level? We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Applications Engineer to join our team supporting advanced multi-axis CNC machine tools for diverse manufacturing customers. What You’ll Do: - Assist with both pre- and post-order requirements for CNC machine tool applications, providing accurate cycle time calculations and process development to deliver top-quality customer parts.
- Support new machine builds and turnkey projects – including onsite customer training, troubleshooting, and hands-on technical support.
- Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to optimize manufacturing processes, select tooling, and drive efficiency and quality improvements.
- Travel to customer sites in the USA and abroad (travel varies by project – sometimes up to 50%, sometimes none).
- Analyze manufacturing process flow, suggest improvements, resolve technical challenges, and generate setup and process documentation.
- Develop NC programs, 3D models, and process plans using leading CAD/CAM software (CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Conduct process verification, optimize machining strategies, and apply advanced tool and fixture design principles.
- Create and maintain Failure Mode and Effects Analysis documents to ensure robust production processes.
- Represent the company professionally and build lasting relationships with customers through effective communication and hands-on expertise.
What We’re Looking For: - Experience with multi-axis CNC machining, process planning, NC programming (G/M codes), feeds & speeds, and CAM software.
- Proficiency in mathematics, blueprint reading, and understanding machine tool capabilities.
- Advanced CAD/CAM skills (CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and knowledge of Siemens controls a plus.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods (up to 2 weeks onsite at a time; flexible to project demands).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a passion for teaching and mentoring customers.
- Professional demeanor, customer-first attitude, and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or hold a valid green card.
