Job Title:

- The role You will own the books of a two-state cannabis operator and do much of the work yourself. 14er grows, manufactures, and sells cannabis in Colorado and is launching a medical cannabis operation in Kentucky.

- This is the first full-time finance hire, and the job is to build a function the business can rely on.
Reports to:
- CEO Team: one bookkeeper today; you will shape what comes next Works closely with: the Senior Analyst, operations and cultivation leaders in both states, outside tax and audit firms Location: Boulder, Colorado.
- Hybrid, with Tuesday through Thursday in the office as the minimum.

- Monthly close for the parent company and every operating entity, including intercompany activity, consolidated across Colorado and Kentucky on a fixed calendar.
- The parent company's books.
- Debt, related-party balances, shared costs, and how those costs are allocated to the operating businesses.
- Inventory value and cost accounting.
- Product costs by SKU through cultivation, extraction, manufacturing, and packaging.
- Operations owns the physical inventory, the counts, and the system records.
- You own its value on the books and the monthly reconciliation between the two.
- The inventory and manufacturing system.
Lead the finance side of our rollout, Kentucky first and then Colorado:
- item master, bills of materials, inventory states, and the link to the general ledger.
- Tax and compliance.
- Cannabis-specific cost allocation, state and local excise filings, sales tax, and the working relationship with our outside tax preparer and auditors.
- Cash and lenders.
- Cash forecasting, payables and receivables, payroll oversight, banking in a cash-heavy business, loan schedules, and lender reporting.
- Budgets and reporting.
- Budget versus actual by department each month, reviewed with the leaders who own the spending.
- Controls.
- Practical controls over cash, inventory, purchasing, and approvals.

Your first 90 days By day 30:
- you run the monthly close yourself and have a written close calendar.
By day 60:
- inventory on the books reconciles to physical counts at every site, with differences explained.
By day 90:
- product costs for Kentucky are set up in the inventory system, and department leaders receive budget versus actual every month.
- What we are looking for A hands-on controller.
- You have closed the books yourself, recently, at a company with a small finance team.
- Inventory and cost accounting experience.
- At least eight years in accounting, including time at a manufacturer, food or consumer products company, agricultural producer, or cannabis operator.
- Multi-entity experience.
- You have consolidated several entities and worked across more than one state.
- A system implementation behind you.
- You have set up or migrated an ERP or inventory system and lived with the result.
- Comfort with owners and operators.
- You can explain numbers plainly to people who run grow rooms and production lines.
- CPA preferred.
- Cannabis experience is a plus but not required; we would rather have strong cost accounting.
Tools and systems QuickBooks:
- advanced, across several entities, including class and location tracking.
- You know where it runs out and what to do about it.
Excel:
- advanced.
- Pivot tables, lookups, and large reconciliations built so someone else can follow them.
An ERP or inventory system with bills of materials and product costing:
- NetSuite, SAP Business One, Sage, or similar.
State track-and-trace (Metrc):
- a plus, and you will learn it quickly if you have not used it.
Payroll and bill-payment platforms:
- working familiarity.
- This role is not for you if You want to lead a large team or spend most of your time on strategy.
