The Department of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a two-year, full-time Term Faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (9403) for the 2026-2027 and 2027-20028 academic years.

Duties for this position will primarily focus on teaching a 3-2 load of undergraduate courses and holding office hours to assist and advise students. The option of departmental service and involvement in departmental programming, for example participation in undergraduate studies committee, colloquium committee, or graduate admissions, may be available if interested.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Gender and Sexuality studies or in a related social sciences or humanities field.
• Experience teaching a diverse undergraduate student body in a large research university.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Commitment to intersectional and transnational feminist pedagogies.
• Expertise and grounded engagement across one or a combination of the following fields: Black, Indigenous, or Chicanx/Latinx Feminisms.
• Research focused in one the following areas: science and technology studies; critical disability studies; queer and trans studies, including queer/trans of color critique; digital humanities; the environment; water and food security; migration; animal studies; and/or Indigenous studies and settler colonialism. Preference will be given to candidates who have conducted teaching and research in two or more of these areas in novel ways, and use transnational and/or intersectional frameworks.
• Demonstrated dedication to forging innovative and productive connections across methods, fields, disciplines, and time- and place-specific contexts in the social sciences and/or humanities.

The Department of Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Minnesota promotes feminist scholarship, teaching, and programming that centers on the relationship between knowledge, power, and social justice. Our core faculty includes award-winning scholars with expertise in race, class, gender, and social justice; critical sexuality and cultural studies; transnational, intersectional, and postcolonial feminisms; transgender and queer studies; critical refugee studies, disability studies, and feminist science studies. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $65,000-$80,000 per year; depending on education/qualifications/experience
