Criminal & Civil Attorney

Senior Litigation | On site | Full time | $155,000 - $185,000 | Exempt | Fort Lauderdale, FL

Mayersohn Law Group, P.A. is seeking a seasoned Criminal Defense & Civil Litigation Trial Attorney with extensive courtroom experience, strong strategic instincts, and the ability to operate independently on complex matters. This senior-level role is primarily focused on high-stakes criminal defense, but also includes handling select civil litigation assignments that support the firm's broader trial practice.

The ideal candidate brings a proven record of success in jury trials (50+ preferred), federal exposure, and a background in prosecution. Experience in civil litigation—such as motion practice, depositions, evidentiary hearings, and trial preparation—is essential to support the firm's diversified caseload.

This is a high-impact position for a litigator who thrives in the courtroom, takes full ownership of their cases, and excels in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE WORKING AT MLG!

  • $155,000–$185,000 (performance-based on billables and KPIs)
  • Flexible compensation structure
  • Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Dedicated paralegal and administrative support
  • Consistent pipeline of high-value, complex cases
  • A steady flow of complex criminal and select civil cases
  • Efficient systems and organized workflows
  • Direct, accessible leadership
  • A high-performance, no-nonsense culture focused on outcomes

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Serve as lead counsel on felony, complex, and high-stakes criminal defense matters
  • Handle select civil litigation matters, including:
    • Motion practice and written advocacy
    • Depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts
    • Discovery strategy and management
    • Evidentiary hearings and trial preparation
  • Manage cases from intake through resolution with full accountability for strategy, communication, and outcomes
  • Develop and execute tailored defense and litigation strategies across criminal and civil matters
  • Represent clients in hearings, negotiations, and jury trials
  • Draft, review, and argue motions, briefs, and legal filings with precision
  • Maintain organized, trial-ready case files and ensure deadlines are consistently met
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including paralegals, administrative staff, and firm leadership
  • Provide clear, direct communication to clients regarding case status, expectations, and strategy

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Extensive criminal defense experience with increasing responsibility and autonomy
  • Experience handling civil litigation matters (motions, hearings, depositions, or trial prep)
  • 50+ jury trials preferred; significant first-chair experience strongly valued
  • Federal criminal case exposure
  • Prior prosecutorial experience strongly preferred
  • Active Florida Bar license in good standing
  • Strong courtroom presence, persuasive advocacy skills, and strategic thinking
  • Ability to meet or exceed billable hour expectations
  • High level of professionalism, accountability, and client management skills
