Job description

Data Center Product Development Manager

Gates Corporation is seeking a Data Center Product Development Manager to lead the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of products serving the global data center market. This role is responsible for translating customer and market needs into differentiated, profitable products solutions that support critical data center infrastructure, including power transmission, thermal management, fluid conveyance, and reliability solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical acumen, market-driven thinking, and cross-functional leadership to deliver innovative solutions for hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data center customers.

Product Strategy & Roadmap

Define and own the product vision and roadmap for Gates' data center portfolio, aligned with corporate growth goals. Provide focus on the complete data center cooling system, in addition to component development programs. Identify and anticipate market trends related to data center expansion, energy efficiency, sustainability, uptime, and total cost of ownership. Expand Gates' footprint in data center solutions.

Market & Customer Insights

Integrate the voice of the customer from hyperscalers, OEMs, system integrators, channel partners, etc. into the product development roadmap and into specific product requirements. Conduct competitive analysis to differentiate Gates products on performance, reliability, lifecycle value, and sustainability.

New Product Development

Lead cross-functional teams (R&D, engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, marketing, and sales) through product development lifecycles. Own product requirements documents (PRDs), DFMEAs/PFMEAs, control plans, and launch plans. Ensure products meet compliance, reliability, and safety standards required for mission-critical data center environments.

Commercial Execution

Partner with Sales and Marketing to develop value propositions, positioning, and go-to-market strategies. Support key customer engagements, technical reviews, and executive briefings. Monitor product performance, margins, and lifecycle profitability, taking corrective actions as needed.

Portfolio & Lifecycle Management

Serve as the Gates representative to industrial specification groups, such as OCP, to provide a unified voice to standards committees across the full range of cooling components. Manage products from concept through launch, growth, and end-of-life. Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on field performance, customer feedback, and market acceptance and evolution. Support sustainability and ESG goals through materials innovation, efficiency improvements, and lifecycle optimization.

Requirements and Preferred Skills

Required Qualifications: Bachelors' degree in a related engineering, business, or technical field. 7-10 years of experience in product development, preferably within industrial, power, cooling, infrastructure, or data center related markets. Proven experience leading internal and cross-functional teams and launching new products. Strong data-centric, analytical, financial, and business case development skills. Experience with data center infrastructure, such as power transmission, cooling systems, fluid management, or reliability solutions.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with hyperscale and colocation data center customers. Knowledge of sustainability, energy efficiency, and regulatory requirements impacting data centers. Advanced degree in a related engineering, business or technical field.

Key Competencies

Strategic thinking and customer focus. Technical curiosity and problem-solving mindset. Strong communication and executive presentation skills. Ability to influence without authority. Results-driven and action-oriented.

Pay & Benefits

Full-Time Salary Range: $120,000 - $135,000. Bonus Eligible. Relocation is provided. Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire. Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued. 401(k): 3% company contribution and additional 3% company match. Tuition Reimbursement.
