Job description

Mid-Level Program Manager (Journeyman) Audiovisual (AV) Systems

Client is seeking a mid-level Program Manager with audiovisual (AV) systems experience to provide program-level oversight, coordination, and governance of AV initiatives across District facilities. For this role, "Journeyman" refers to a mid-level professional, typically with 610 years of experience managing technology or AV-related programs or portfolios. This position focuses on overseeing and coordinating multiple related initiatives, aligning stakeholders, managing dependencies, and ensuring successful delivery across the AV program. This is not a hands-on installation or technician role. The selected contractor will manage schedules, vendors, priorities, and reporting for AV initiatives to ensure solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with District standards and operational needs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide program-level leadership for multiple AV initiatives across client facilities
  • Coordinate and align related AV efforts to ensure consistency with program objectives, timelines, and available funding
  • Develop and maintain high-level program plans, milestones, dependencies, and risk tracking
  • Provide oversight and direction for AV initiatives, including:
    • Classroom instructional technology
    • Conference room and meeting space AV
    • Video conferencing and hybrid collaboration systems
    • Digital signage and presentation systems
  • Coordinate work among internal client teams, facilities staff, vendors, and AV integrators
  • Ensure AV initiatives comply with District policies, cybersecurity requirements, accessibility standards, and operational guidelines
  • Monitor delivery risks, resource constraints, and cross-initiative dependencies
  • Review vendor performance and address escalated technical, schedule, or scope issues
  • Support site coordination, readiness assessments, testing, and acceptance activities as required
  • Prepare consolidated program-level status reports, metrics, and briefings for agency leadership
  • Support transition of completed AV systems to operations and support teams
  • Ensure all assigned AV initiatives align with overall program goals and are delivered successfully

Required Experience & Skills

  • Experience equivalent to a mid-level Program Manager (approximately 610 years)
  • Proven experience overseeing multiple related initiatives within a technology, AV, or infrastructure program
  • Demonstrated experience managing AV, IT, or technology programs in complex environments
  • Strong ability to coordinate vendors and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of AV systems at a program and integration level (audio, video, control, conferencing, and network dependencies)
  • Experience managing schedules, reporting, documentation, and deliverables across multiple workstreams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and dependencies in active operational environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting AV programs in schools, government agencies, or large institutional environments
  • Experience coordinating AV work alongside construction, renovation, or facilities programs
  • Familiarity with enterprise collaboration platforms and classroom technology standards
  • PMP certification or formal program management training

Important Clarification

  • This is not a hands-on AV installation or technician role
  • The contractor is responsible for program-level oversight, coordination, and governance of AV initiatives

Work Conditions

  • Primary work location is onsite at client facilities; limited telework may be permitted per District policy
  • Standard schedule is 40 hours per week
  • Occasional off-hours work may be required for coordinated deployments or system cutovers

Skills Matrix

Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience Program-level oversight, coordination, and governance of audiovisual (AV) initiatives across multiple facilities. Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio for documentation, presentations, and visual diagrams. Demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy in project documentation, reporting, and deliverables. Maintains a customer-focused perspective, understanding the big picture across internal teams, users, vendors, and leadership. 6 Years Ability to develop project timelines, provide status reporting, track costs, and prepare project presentations for stakeholders. Experience supporting or working with the deployment and usage of monitoring systems. Clearly and concisely communicates processes and issues in a well-organized manner; strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional resources to support project execution. Ability to prioritize tasks and quickly resolve issues in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational, time, and project management skills with the ability to manage overlapping priorities. Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated interest in both technology and business operations. Possesses a valid driver's license as required.
