(RN) Nurse Manager, North County Cancer Services
The North County Cancer Services Manager provides strategic, operational, administrative, and clinical leadership for North County oncology clinics and infusion centers, with 24/7 accountability for patient care delivery, staffing, quality, safety, and operational performance. This role oversees multiple sites, including Encinitas, Vista, Rancho Bernardo, and Murrieta, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered oncology services across ambulatory and infusion settings.
The Manager is responsible for the direct oversight of nursing staff, medical assistants, and clinic support personnel and is accountable for workforce planning, staff development, performance management, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and financial stewardship. The position promotes a culture of excellence, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement while ensuring alignment with UC San Diego Health's mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership and operational oversight for multiple oncology clinics and infusion centers, ensuring safe, effective, timely, and patient-centered care delivery.
- Maintaining 24/7 accountability for staffing, patient care operations, quality outcomes, patient experience, regulatory compliance, and fiscal performance.
- Leading recruitment, onboarding, competency validation, performance evaluations, coaching, employee engagement, succession planning, and corrective action processes for clinical and support staff.
- Ensuring staff maintain required competencies and facilitating ongoing education and training related to new therapies, technologies, policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices.
- Overseeing clinic and infusion center workflows to optimize patient access, throughput, resource utilization, operational efficiency, and service excellence.
- Partnering with physicians, nursing leadership, pharmacy leadership, and operational stakeholders to develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance patient care and operational performance.
- Leading quality improvement, patient safety, accreditation readiness, and regulatory compliance activities while promoting a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
- Participating in the development, implementation, and management of annual operating, capital, and personnel budgets, ensuring responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
- Overseeing the procurement, maintenance, and utilization of clinical equipment and supplies necessary to support safe and efficient patient care.
- Providing visible leadership presence within clinical areas and offering direct support to staff and patients as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

The Manager works collaboratively with the Medical Director, Clinic Operations Supervisor, Nursing Supervisors, Pharmacy Manager, Director of Nursing, and other organizational leaders to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and compassionate oncology care. The role requires strong independent judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills to effectively manage complex operational and clinical situations with minimal supervision.
