Administrative Director, Emergency Services (RN)
She Recruits is seeking an experienced and high-capacity Administrative Director of Emergency Services to lead a very busy Emergency Department within a growing regional hospital system. This senior nursing leadership role oversees Emergency Services, two Free-Standing Emergency Departments (FSEDs), Emergency Management, and the inpatient hold unit. Ideal candidates bring strong ED operational leadership, the ability to manage high-volume, high-acuity settings, and the composure to lead teams through rapid workflow and change.
The Administrative Director ensures consistent delivery of high-quality emergency care, drives operational excellence, oversees departmental growth and staff development, and manages resources efficiently across all emergency care settings. This leader plays a critical role in advancing patient experience, employee engagement, and performance outcomes.
Key responsibilities include identifying operational or clinical issues and implementing effective solutions with communication and follow-through, participating in hospital and departmental committees, advancing patient experience initiatives within the Emergency Department, coaching, mentoring, and evaluating direct reports, ensuring adherence to HR policies and documentation standards, communicating organizational, industry, and departmental priorities effectively, promoting evidence-based staff engagement practices, building strong cross-departmental relationships to support organizational goals, conducting employee and patient rounding, enforcing standards of emergency care, overseeing the operations of the main ED, two FSEDs, and the inpatient hold unit, managing resource allocation, staffing, budgets, and departmental performance measures, and supporting hospital expansion planning as the facility prepares for significant growth.
Department snapshot includes a community hospital with 364 beds and expansion planned, 48 ED beds plus 9 fast track, trauma level II, daily volume of 200250 visits, acuity level 1 and 2 traumas, high stroke volume, mixed 25% lower acuity, responsible for ~97 FTEs, and EMR: Meditech.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in nursing required, master's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or business administration required, 3+ years of emergency services experience, 5+ years of leadership experience, RN licensure (or eligibility) in applicable state, ACLS and PALS required, CEN and TNCC preferred.
