This position is located in the Department of Finance, the purchasing agent is responsible for planning and directing all purchasing activities to ensure the effective management and procurement of materials, supplies, construction, and other services for the Metropolitan Government while maximizing inclusionary impact to the extent allowed by law. Performs other related duties as required.
Metro Finance has several divisions, including Procurement, Treasury, the Office of Management and Budget, the Division of Accounts, Payroll, the Office of Impact, and the Office of Financial Accountability. Department employees provide financial management, information, and business services to policymakers, departments, investors, and the Nashville community. These services help build confidence in our government and enable stakeholders to make informed decisions.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and, as stipulated by the Metro Charter, a minimum of five (5) years of experience in private-sector or governmental purchasing and property management, control, and accountability. Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
