Veterinary Technician Manager
This position primarily focuses on managing the veterinary technician staff with responsibilities that include:
- Directing work flow on the floor
- Cultivate an engaging work environment and maintain our strong hospital culture
- Work cohesively with hospital management and medical teams to aid in the progression of the hospital
- Assists in the educational development of technicians and their skills
- Conduct staff meetings
- Provide opportunities for staff to gain more firsthand experience
- Mentoring technicians within the department
- Medical supplies ordering and inventory management
- Controlled substances management
- Medical equipment maintenance management.
- Resolve conflicts in a professional and humble manner
- Refining and implementing protocols
- Ensure that VCA polices, guidelines, and recommendations are implemented by all members of the technical staff.

Having mastered the entire range of vet tech skills yourself, you are a role model for the team. You will work alongside our Veterinarians and Hospital Manager to provide mentorship, ensure the hospital runs efficiently and fosters a winning environment.
Direct and develop the veterinary, technical staff towards the goal of quality patient care and excellent client service; assist in the formulation of objectives and policies to ensure efficient and profitable hospital operations Model an "owner" mentality in hospital by demonstrating a willingness to assist all employees in making the practice a success; invest the necessary amount of time to accomplish the required responsibilities and ensure the smooth operation of the hospital Minimize patient stress and discomfort; recommend referral to another VCA doctor or specialist when likely to significantly improve the prognosis Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient
Qualifications: 5+ years of clinical experience
Team leadership experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences and settings The ability to make decisions, delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team members Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, positive attitude Respect for and willingness to work with clients and their pets Must be able to handle multiple tasks and deal with an environment of changing priorities
