Job description

Teamwork Makes the Stream Work

Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and we've set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

About the Team

At Roku, we make decisions based on data. Consumer Planning & Optimization (P&O) at Roku works across the business to ensure that investments in customer behavior (including purchase, subscription, viewing habits, etc.) are evaluated based on how they will enhance the customer experience. By presenting our users with a great experience, they will value the platform and Roku experience even more. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Planning & Analysis.

About the Role

The person will be a key member of the planning function within the Consumer P&O team. This role will work across multiple business groups in supporting the analysis, sizing, and prioritization of high-impact business initiatives to drive growth and increase customer lifetime value. Key activities will include developing business performance reporting and models, tracking the impact of business initiatives, coordinating planning with FP&A, and helping the Consumer P&O team collaborate with various teams across Roku to execute new programs.

For New York Only - The estimated annual base salary for this position is between $170,000 - $195,000 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead tracking, monitoring, and reporting of ongoing business performance (revenue, profit, retention, customer lifetime value, ROI, and P&O KPIs)
  • Develop and operate scalable reporting, forecasting templates, and overall business intelligence infrastructure
  • Partner with Analytics/FP&A teams to streamline processes, improve data infrastructure, and avoid duplication of efforts across the Roku ecosystem
  • Establish performance baselines for modeling key consumer actions
  • Support Roku's international expansion strategy
  • Develop business cases and models for high-impact, company-wide initiatives, exploring new areas for investment that may generate high returns
  • Partner closely with Customer Intelligence, Analytics, and FP&A to validate assumptions and data inputs
  • Expand the scope of existing team capabilities to international focus markets (reporting, planning, opportunity sizing)
  • Support creation of impactful, compelling presentation materials (decks, notes, write-ups, etc.) that effectively communicate financial projections, drivers, performance, risks, and opportunities to support prioritization discussions that will shape roadmap development
  • Provide frequent, time-sensitive, ad hoc insights to inform executive decision-making
  • Monitor key industry and economic factors to determine potential impact on customer lifetime models, revenue streams, and long-term planning
  • Collaborate with FP&A and Analytics teams to ensure trends are incorporated where appropriate to shape overarching company strategy

We're Excited If You Have

  • 5+ years of experience that includes one or a combination of the following: Consumer Analytics, SP&A, FP&A, or similar planning experience, ideally with D2C SVOD and AVOD experience OR management consulting, investment banking, or equity research within the Media, Technology, or Telecom sector
  • Experience working with customer lifetime value, including an understanding of methodology, use cases, and implications for forecasting
  • Ability to understand complex business drivers, produce high-quality analytics, and communicate results effectively
  • Best-in-class (more than advanced) Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, with a keen eye for presentation design and the ability to distill complex concepts and analyses into clear, easy-to-understand presentations
  • Understanding of cohort/growth models and discounted cash flow models
  • Advanced ad-hoc financial modeling skills with a special talent to form and defend model assumptions with limited data
  • Hands-on with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) and motivated to push their use in day-to-day workflows
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized and deliverable-focused
  • Strong communicator and collaborator across multiple departments with a service-oriented business partnering approach
  • Ability to thrive and take initiative in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and ambiguous environment
  • Familiarity with dashboarding tools, including Tableau and Looker, coding skills are a plus
  • Familiarity with international markets and growth strategy is a plus

What's Roku's Approach to Hybrid Working?

Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where teams generally work in the office Monday through Thursday. Fridays are generally flexible for remote work, except for employees whose specific roles or assigned office location require five days' a week attendance.

What Are Some of the Benefits?

Roku is committed to offering a diverse range of benefits as part of our compensation package to support our employees and their families. Our comprehensive benefits include global access to mental health and financial wellness support and resources. Local benefits include statutory and voluntary benefits which may include healthcare (medical, dental, and vision), life, accident, disability, commuter, and retirement options (401(k)/pension). Employees are supported in taking time off, in accordance with local leave policies and other personal needs to support their evolving work and life needs. It's important to note that not every benefit is available in all locations or for every role. For details specific to your location, please consult with your recruiter.

Accommodations

Roku welcomes applicants of all backgrounds and provides reasonable accommodations and adjustments in accordance with applicable law. If you require reasonable accommodation at any point in the hiring process, please direct your inquiries to EmployeeRelations@Roku.com.

What Should I Know About Roku's Culture?

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We're independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
