HR Manager
Cook Solutions Group is seeking an experienced and strategic HR Manager to lead and support key human resources functions within a fast-paced technology environment. This role will serve as a trusted business partner to leadership by providing guidance, coaching, and HR expertise across employee relations, performance management, compliance, payroll, benefits, and organizational development.
This is a hands-on role that will be actively involved in managing and overseeing the day-to-day HR processes and functions. We are seeking someone who can step in, take ownership of this area of HR, and provide strong operational leadership. This position offers a clear opportunity for growth into a more strategic HR leadership role as the individual demonstrates proven capability, initiative, and success in the role.
The ideal candidate will bring strong HR technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and the ability to balance strategic partnership with day-to-day operational execution.
Location: Portland, OR - This is a hybrid position looking for this individual to be onsite 2-3 days a week.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a strategic HR business partner to leaders and managers across the organization.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organizational development.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
- Support and administer key HR programs including compensation, benefits, training and development, and performance management.
- Oversee or support payroll processing, with preference for experience using Paychex Flex.
- Maintain and utilize HRIS systems to support accurate employee data, reporting, and HR operations.
- Partner with leadership to drive employee engagement, retention, and a positive workplace culture.
- Support safety initiatives and collaborate with operational leaders on workforce and compliance matters within a manufacturing environment.
- Assist with policy development, process improvement, and implementation of HR programs and initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive employee and business matters.
Qualifications / Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field required.
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a substantial portion of that experience.
- Payroll processing experience required; Paychex Flex experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success providing value-added HR coaching, guidance, thought leadership, and business partnership in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- PHR, SPHR, or SHRM certification preferred, but not required.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws and HR compliance practices.
- Strong foundation in HR principles, best practices, and their practical application within manufacturing operations.
- Broad knowledge of: Safety, Training & Development, employee relations, performance management and organizational planning.
- Working knowledge of benefits and compensation programs.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS); Paychex Flex experience highly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
