Director of Student Engagement
The Director of Student Engagement is responsible for student leadership development, first-year orientation, campus social and educational programming, Activities Board, and over 40 other clubs and organizations. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director is a vital member of campus life and contributes to the development of a vibrant co-curricular life within the context of the Catholic mission of the University. Attendance at and participation in campus programs is expected.
The Director of Student Engagement is responsible for:
- Supervision
- Administrative
- Programming
- Serving on University committees where needed as a representative of the division of Student Affairs
- Serving as a Campus Security Authority for Clery reporting purposes and a Responsible Employee for Title IX reporting purposes
- May be assigned other related duties
Qualifications include:
- Willingness to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption College
- Master's degree in higher education or a related field
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in student activities or closely related field
- Excellent communication skills and experience with supervision of professional staff
- Experience supervising and/or advising students and/or student organizations
- Demonstrated understanding of the value of co-curricular learning experiences
- Ability to work evenings and weekends and attend student events required
The Director of Student Engagement will:
- Regularly serve on a variety of campus committees, and other ad-hoc committees as assigned
- Maintain active membership in a variety of professional organizations to stay abreast developments and innovations in the field of student activities
- Interact regularly with a variety of student committees and groups, students, staff, administrators, parents, agents, vendors, and performers
- Supervise the work of approximately 2 full-time employees, one part-time employee, and one graduate assistant
- Manage an annual departmental operating budget of approximately $25,000. Also manages (approximate) programming budgets as follows: Student/Parent Orientation - $110,000.; and Student Government Association - $520,000.
Physical and mental demands include:
- Sitting, standing, walking, and bending are required of this position
- Use of a computer keyboard and computer screen for periods of time with close vision and the ability to adjust visual focus plus manual dexterity are required
- Reading (documents), detailed work, confidentiality, language, math, reasoning, oral communications, written communications, customer contact, multiple concurrent tasks, constant interruptions, and performing calculations when necessary
