Manager Of Global Volunteer Development

Greater Good Charities is a 501(c)(3) global nonprofit organization that works to help people, pets, and the planet by mobilizing in response to need and amplifying the good. To date, we have provided over $1B in aid, expertise, and funding in 121 countries in support of this mission.

The Manager of Global Volunteer Development is responsible for supporting our global volunteer programs. This individual will support the implementation of comprehensive strategies to engage, support, and mobilize volunteers across multiple regions, ensuring alignment with Greater Good Charities' mission and goals. The role requires exceptional organizational skills, a passion for community service, and a proven track record in volunteer management and program development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Design and implement innovative volunteer programs and initiatives that address global challenges and maximize volunteer contribution in partnership with Director of Field Operations.
  • Program Support: Ensure adequate volunteer support for all of GGC's program supporting people, animals and the planet. Coordinate with program VPs and EVPs to ensure proper scheduling, travel and communication with volunteers.
  • Volunteer Recruitment and Retention: Create and execute strategies to recruit, onboard, and retain a diverse pool of volunteers, ensuring an inclusive and positive experience for all participants.
  • Training: Develop and deliver training programs and resources in partnership with Director of Field Operations to equip volunteers with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively contribute to our initiatives.
  • Regional Coordination: Work closely with regional teams to ensure cohesive and effective volunteer management across different locations, adapting strategies to local needs and contexts.
  • Partnerships and Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships in partnership with Director of Field Operations with partner organizations, internal program leaders, community groups, and other stakeholders to enhance volunteer opportunities and maximize impact.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Track metrics and evaluate processes to assess the effectiveness of volunteer programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Communication: Lead efforts to communicate the value and impact of volunteer contributions through various channels, including reports, social media, newsletters, and internal/external communications in partnership with the Growth team.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the budgeting and allocation of resources for volunteer programs, ensuring efficient and effective use of funds and materials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in volunteer management.
  • Familiarity with volunteer management software (Rosterfy preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement effective volunteer programs and strategies.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with data analysis and performance metrics to drive decision-making and program improvements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel onsite as needed (up to 25%).
  • Commitment to the mission of Greater Good Charities.

Working Environment: This position is fully remote. The employee is expected to work 40 hours per week during regular business hours Monday Friday as agreed with the supervisor. This role requires travel (up to 25%) and periodically working outside standard business hours.
