Project Manager - Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC)

Founded in 1972, Total-Western, Inc. is a premier provider of industrial construction and maintenance services, supporting a wide range of industries. Specializing in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), we offer end-to-end solutions that span every phase of the project lifecycle.

With strategically positioned offices across the United States, we are well-equipped to deliver tailored, high-quality solutions that address the unique needs of each client. Our unwavering commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous innovation ensures that every project is completed with reliability and cost-effectiveness. By fostering a collaborative and creative work environment, we tackle even the most complex challenges, providing sustainable solutions that drive long-term success.

At Total-Western, we forge enduring partnerships based on trust, dependability, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Our goal is to help clients navigate dynamic market conditions while achieving their objectives efficiently and effectively.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) to join our team. This pivotal role will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of EPC projects, ensuring that they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The Project Manager will lead cross-functional teams, manage client relationships, and ensure that all project deliverables meet or exceed expectations. The position requires a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen to drive successful project outcomes and uphold the company's commitment to quality and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership: Lead and manage all phases of EPC projects, from initiation through to completion, ensuring that project goals, timelines, and budgets are met. Provide strategic direction to project teams and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle.

Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication regarding project progress, potential risks, and any adjustments to the scope or timeline. Foster strong, long-term relationships with clients based on trust and reliability.

Team Management: Direct and supervise a diverse team of engineers, procurement specialists, and construction professionals. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure that the team works collaboratively to achieve project goals.

Schedule and Budget Management: Oversee the project schedule and budget, ensuring all deliverables are completed on time and within financial constraints. Identify potential risks to the project timeline or budget and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Quality and Safety Oversight: Ensure all project activities are executed in compliance with Total-Western's safety protocols and quality standards. Champion a safety-first culture, conducting regular site visits and inspections to ensure a safe work environment.

Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans and proactive solutions to minimize delays and cost overruns. Manage issues and changes in scope that arise during the course of the project.

Reporting and Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports, budgets, schedules, and change orders. Regularly update senior management on project status, highlighting key achievements, risks, and milestones.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing EPC projects, preferably in industries such as petrochemical, oil and gas, manufacturing, or renewable energy.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Strong knowledge of EPC processes, including design, procurement, and construction.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and build strong client relationships.
  • Solid understanding of safety standards and quality management principles.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, make decisions under pressure, and provide innovative solutions.

Preferred Experience:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar project management certification is highly desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards (OSHA, NFPA, API, etc.).
  • Experience in managing large-scale, multi-discipline projects.
  • Familiarity with contract negotiation and management.

This position is primarily office-based, with regular site visits required to monitor project progress, conduct safety audits, and ensure adherence to project specifications. The role may involve occasional travel to client sites or other project locations. A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence is essential when working in both office and field environments.

The Project Manager - EPC will report to the Director of Project Management or Senior Project Manager. The role will also involve significant collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, and safety departments.

Salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 annually, depending on experience. In addition to competitive compensation, Total-Western, Inc. offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Health insurance (medical, dental, and vision)
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Paid time off (PTO) and holiday leave
