Senior Technical Manager
The Senior Technical Manager provides strategic and technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects within their professional service area. This role oversees all technical aspects of project execution, including design integrity, quality assurance, personnel management, scope, budgeting, and financial performance. The Senior Technical Manager directs and supports technical teams assigned to multiple projects, working closely with Project Managers and other stakeholders to ensure technical objectives are achieved.
Key responsibilities include overseeing and verifying the accuracy and quality of technical work, developing, monitoring, and maintaining project budgets and schedules, ensuring the technical, quality, and financial performance of the technical team meets organizational and client expectations, serving as a primary point of contact for resolving technical, engineering, and project-related issues, acting as the Designer of Record when required, collaborating and communicating effectively with managers, clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams to support project success, conducting quality assurance reviews and testing, preparing and overseeing workload forecasts, staffing plans, and resource allocation, developing and managing budgets and schedules for complex technical projects, delivering technical presentations and reports, ensuring all work complies with applicable regulations, reviewing and approving contract documents, supervising and mentoring technical staff, and contributing to the development and execution of annual business goals and multi-year strategic plans.
Education and experience required include a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, with a Master's degree preferred, and a minimum of twenty (20) years' job-related experience. Relevant licensure within the discipline is required.
Preferred qualifications include a strong desire to expand knowledge and take on new responsibilities within the field, proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch-Up, Photoshop, and other related software programs, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, excellent organizational and time management skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with clients, project team, vendors, and other external groups in a professional manner.
