Job description

Senior Manager Of Inventory Control

Firefly Aerospace is a space and defense technology company that enables our world to launch, land, and operate in space anywhere, anytime. As the partner of choice for critical space missions, Firefly is the only commercial company to launch a satellite to orbit with 24-hour notice and the only company to achieve a successful Moon landing. Our launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles provide government and commercial customers with full mission services from low Earth orbit to the Moon and beyond. Headquartered in north Austin, Texas, Firefly is looking for passionate, hardworking innovators to join our team and help fuel our successful trajectory into space.

Become a vital force in Firefly's groundbreaking journey to Launch, Land, and Orbit! Our Supply Chain Team is seeking sharp, energetic individuals with an unwavering eye for detail. As the Senior Manager of Inventory Control, you'll be a critical pillar of the Firefly Supply Chain Team. Step up, contribute meaningfully, and shape the future with us.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct responsibility for the Main Manufacturing Warehouse (footprint optimization, cleanrooms, ESD limits), Launch Warehouse Locations (mission-critical staging, remote tracking, high-velocity distribution), and Line-Side Inventory (Kanban, kitting, point-of-use replenishment).
  • Full leadership over multi-shift warehouse managers, supervisors, and material handlers, focusing heavily on safety culture (OSHA compliance, crane/forklift operations, aerospace compliance, and HAZMAT management).
  • Meticulous control of all components via serialization, batch/lot tracking, shelf-life limitations (epoxies, composites), and strict ITAR access control.
  • Ensure continuous cycle-counting to maintain inventory accuracy and prevent operational shutdowns.
  • Manage local and satellite Firefly Aerospace Warehouse locations and their associated functions, including Receiving, Materials Management, Picking, and Transfers.
  • Ensure accuracy, movement, and safe handling / storage of all inventory items.
  • Develop roles and responsibility for Warehouse personnel and develop standard work and measurements.
  • Create and maintain accuracy of all warehouse SOPs and ensure training requirements are maintained and documented.
  • Support System and Data integrity within the ERP system.
  • Develop and implement a culture of continuous improvement and KPIs to measure team efforts.
  • Support Quality, Production, Launch and other Firefly departments at the highest level of safety and quality.
  • Support all Firefly Warehouse and Logistics expansion and mission efforts domestically and internationally.
  • Use sound management principles and techniques to achieve a high level of efficiency and to develop talent, skills, and processes.
  • Maintain material in accordance with AS9100 processes.
  • Follow positive employee relations practices. Select and recommend candidates for hire, promotion, recognition, disciplinary action and/or termination keeping appropriate documentation.
  • Manager the Warehouse budget and support the annual budget process.
  • Ensure that proper equipment training, certification, and safety observations are conducted and updated per HSE requirements.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Operations, or a closely related business/technical field.
  • 8 to 10+ years of progressive warehouse operations and inventory management leadership specifically within aerospace, defense, or commercial space launch systems.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in materials management, warehouse management, supply chain management, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience managing a decentralized inventory network, including central manufacturing hubs, remote field/launch sites, and fast-paced line-side or point-of-use (POU) replenishment cells.
  • Direct experience building, training, and managing a multi-shift team of warehouse managers, material control specialists, and logistics personnel under strict safety guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning and robust Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Practical understanding of managing age-sensitive materials (such as composites, epoxies, and sealants), including strict monitoring of storage temperatures, out-time tracking, and cleanroom limits.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • MS Office (including Excel, Word & Outlook)

Desired:

  • APICS certification (CPIMCertified in Planning and Inventory Management or CSCPCertified Supply Chain Professional) and/or a Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
  • Odoo ERP/MRP knowledge.
  • ITAR experience.
  • Experience in an R&D focused environment, Prototyping and test environment.
