Job description

Associate Manager, Sustainability

Cultivate a Better World

Food served fast does not have to be a typical fast-food experience. Chipotle has always done things differently, both in and out of our restaurants. We are changing the face of fast food, starting conversations, and directly supporting efforts to shift the future of farming and food. We hope you will join us as we continue to learn, evolve, and shape what comes next on our mission to make better food accessible to everyone.

The Opportunity

As the Associate Manager, Sustainability, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of sustainability disclosures to support our mission to Cultivate a Better World. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across Operations, Finance, Facilities, and Marketing, ensuring the sustainability team meets sustainability goals and regulatory requirements while effectively communicating our progress.

What You'll Do

  1. Lead the planning and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with emerging sustainability regulatory disclosures and manage voluntary disclosure reporting to include the Annual Sustainability Report, CDP disclosures, TNFD, state disclosures and more.
  2. Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Sourcing and Procurement, Legal, Investor Relations Human Resources, Operations, and Development for data collection and process development.
  3. Support materiality assessments as part of the process for identifying key issues for reporting and to inform business priorities.
  4. Support the development of environmental inventories, identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and traceability.
  5. Evaluate current data and information required for regulatory reporting, assess gaps, and identify automation strategies to ensure compliance with requirements through our data strategy.
  6. Build on data governance and internal controls to support reporting needs for upcoming regulatory and assurance requirements.
  7. Support internal controls and audit readiness by confirming documentation required for key metrics, assessing completion and accuracy, and outlining decision-making processes and governance oversight.
  8. Stay ahead of regulatory trends by monitoring evolving sustainability requirements and reporting frameworks and create dashboards and reports to align internal teams on requirements and timelines.
  9. Engage with external rating agencies and sustainability organizations to stay current on the frameworks and ratings systems to identify gaps and priorities in our sustainability data and messaging.

What You'll Bring To The Table

  • Bachelor's degree required in environmental science, communications, project management, engineering, statistics, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in sustainability reporting/corporate reporting, data management, and/or governance.
  • 1-2 years' supervisory experience.
  • Experience with program/project management and working with employees across all levels including senior leadership/C-suite members.
  • Familiarity with sustainability rating methodologies, frameworks, reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct experience in Sustainability/ESG voluntary and/or regulatory reporting/environmental inventories.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and tools across rating agencies.
  • Experience with reporting data platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to create compelling presentations and convey complex and innovative concepts to diverse sets of stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with complex data sets to ensure accuracy and reliability in sustainability reporting.
