Residential Manager

As a Residential Manager, you will serve as the leader of your assigned program, overseeing daily operations while fostering a positive, person-centered environment that promotes independence, health, safety, and community engagement. You will lead and develop a team of Direct Support Professionals, collaborate with nursing and clinical staff, and partner with families and support networks to ensure each individual receives exceptional care and support.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Leadership & Oversight

  • Model and promote the guiding principles, mission, and values of AccessPoint RI.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, fairness, and professionalism in all interactions; foster these behaviors among staff.
  • Provide on-call coverage as required.
  • Plan, facilitate, and document Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and staff meetings.
  • Conduct 4-month and annual performance reviews in collaboration with the Assistant Manager.
  • Hold regular supervision meetings with DSPs and document accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, including FMLA, Workers' Comp, progressive discipline, and Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Provide direct supervision to the Assistant Manager.
  • Oversee client case records and documentation.
  • Support other program locations as needed.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork among program staff.

Health, Safety & Well-Being

  • Ensure availability and appropriate storage of household supplies (food, personal care, cleaning products, etc.).
  • Oversee medication protocols under the guidance of the RN.
  • Ensure staff are trained in medication administration.
  • Verify medication orders, administration, and documentation.
  • Review and follow up on medication errors promptly.
  • Provide support for medical appointments as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to all infection control, safety, and emergency protocols.

Licensing & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all state licensing and fire safety regulations.

Finance & Documentation

  • Adhere to agency financial procedures, including:
  • Individual funds management
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Petty cash oversight
  • Responsible for managing residential attendance, activity, and transportation billing
  • Complete and submit monthly financial audit reports to the Residential Director.
  • Completion of accurate and timely billing.

Staff Scheduling & Training

  • Lead hiring, onboarding, supervision, and training of Assistant Managers and DSPs.
  • Respond to emergencies and support staff coverage as needed.
  • Maintain staffing schedules within budgeted hours, monitor overtime, and fill vacancies per policy and CBA.
  • Ensure staff training and certifications are up to date.
  • Collaborate on staff coverage and support across programs.
  • Submit supply orders bi-weekly.
  • Monitor and document ISP goals and community participation weekly.
  • Maintain oversight of daily documentation and case notes in Therap.

Essential Physical Demands

  • Safely operate adaptive equipment, vans, phones, and office equipment.
  • Must lift 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must perform physical intervention techniques (NCI) when required.

Work Environment

  • Work takes place in residential homes and community settings, both indoors and outdoors, across all seasons.

  • Direct support -House Managers demonstrate excellence in providing culturally appropriate direct support services to participants using person-centered approaches and strategies that help the participant be fully engaged and included in each aspect of his or her daily life, have maximum choice and control, and gain independence.
  • Health, wellness, and safetyHouse Managers work with participants and their teams to develop a support plan to promote the health, safety, and well-being of participants based on individual preferences and goals. House Managers actively monitor, review, discuss with participants, and modify support plans to ensure the most effective strategies are in place.
  • Participant support plan development, monitoring, and assessmentHouse Managers operationalize participants' individual goals and identified outcomes into a coordinated support plan. They coordinate and facilitate support network meetings, maintain communication with other service providers, family, and allies, and monitor, document, and report progress toward goals.
  • Facilitating community inclusion across the lifespan - House Managers facilitate and support the development and maintenance of participant support networks in partnership with persons supported. House Managers support participants in exploring educational, employment, volunteer, and retirement opportunities and/or collaborate with other staff and providers to coordinate support that will assist the participant in reaching goals and actively participating in activities of their choice across their lifespan.
  • Promoting professional relations and teamwork- House Managers enhance professional relations among team members and their capacity to work effectively with others toward common goals by using practical communication skills, facilitating teamwork, and supporting and encouraging growth and professional development
  • Staff recruitment, selection, and hiringHouse Managers use best practices to actively recruit and lead a selection process that actively includes the participant and his or her support network. House Managers provide sufficient information about the position through a realistic job preview and conduct effective interviews to promote successful hires of direct support professionals.
  • Staff supervision, training, and developmentHouse Managers coordinate and lead competency-based direct support staff training and professional development activities, including coaching and mentoring. They also conduct performance reviews and are responsible for all aspects of staff supervision, including scheduling and maintaining training records.
  • Service management and quality assurance- House Managers effectively manage and oversee participant services and supports in group service settings, individual, and remote service settings, including compliance with all federal, state, and local rules and regulations, and apply ethical principles related to best practices in services and supports. House Managers oversee financial activities within the scope of work assignments to ensure continued quality service delivery.
  • Advocacy and public relations - House Managers promote public relations by educating community members about the rights of people with disabilities and advocating for and with participants for services and opportunities that promote safe, respected, and valued membership in the community
  • Leadership, professionalism, and self-development- House Managers maintain professionalism and engage in ongoing self-development and professional development activities. House Managers share and receive knowledge from others, support coworkers, and actively participate in the life of their organization
  • Cultural awareness and responsiveness - House Managers respect all unique characteristics of participants by providing culturally appropriate support and services

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ongoing access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
  • At least two years of experience supporting individuals
