Interim Controller / CFO (Real Estate Finance Transformation)

The client has a real estate transaction that has recently signed and has a more unique ask looking for an interim "super" controller / CFO to assist with Transition / insourcing of a fully outsourced finance function / bookkeeper Overseeing system implementation of MRI - which is a specialized software for real estate property management Traditional controllership / FP&A needs - financial reporting, financial statement close, day to day accounting Key resource attributes Industry experience with real estate Familiarity with MRI Financial / controllership experience / CPA.

We are seeking an experienced Interim Controller / CFO to support a real estate organization during a critical transition period. The role will lead the insourcing of a fully outsourced finance and bookkeeping function, oversee a new MRI property management system implementation, and manage core controllership and FP&A activities. This is a hands-on role requiring strong accounting leadership, real estate industry experience, and the ability to operate both strategically and operationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the transition and insourcing of finance and accounting functions from an outsourced provider
• Oversee and support the implementation of MRI (real estate property management system)
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, and reconciliations
• Own the monthly and quarterly financial close process
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting
• Provide FP&A support, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls during the transition period
• Serve as a key finance leader partnering with executive leadership

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Strong real estate industry background
• Hands-on controllership experience (financial close, reporting, accounting operations)
• Familiarity with MRI software (required or strongly preferred)
• CPA strongly preferred
• Experience leading finance transformations or insourcing initiatives
• Ability to work on-site or locally in Cincinnati
