Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for achieving margin goals by accurately costing and proactively managing Capital Projects. The Applications group provides a well-defined scope that the Project Manager offers input to and utilizes to complete a detailed cost analysis. The Project Manager will apply margins, as directed by the Project Management Manager, and complete the quotation in a timely manner. Assigned capital projects will be managed following the project management process from quotation through installation and final customer acceptance. The Project Manager will interface directly with Customers and internally with our District Sales Managers, Application Engineers, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Service. Additionally, the Project Manager will work with other company departments to ensure margins are maintained and regularly report on project status with the appropriate departments and management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather technical specifications to develop capital quotations by working with Applications, District Sales Managers and or Customers.

  • Interface with other Kadant departments to ensure projects maintain expected margins and project schedules.
  • Ensure that all customer order requirements are satisfied.
  • Communicate project status on a weekly basis and report any deviations from project schedule and gross margin expectations.
  • Work with QC and Manufacturing to make sure any deficiencies and non-conformances are addressed.
  • Coordinate all FAT activities as required.
  • Ensure that project documentation is properly stored.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: BS Degree in Pulp and Paper, Mechanical or Chemical engineering or 10 years minimum related experience.
  • Judgment/Decision Making: Demonstrate consistent logic, rationality, and objectivity in decision making. Achieve balance between quick decisiveness and slower, more thorough approaches. Anticipate consequences of decisions.
  • Initiative: Seek out and seize opportunities, go beyond the "call of duty," finds ways to surmount barriers. Resourceful, action-oriented "doer," achieving results despite lack of resources. Re-stimulate languishing projects. Shows bias for action ("do it now"). Takes reasonable risks and learns from mistakes.
  • Team Player: Reach out to peers to tear down walls. Overcome "we-they" relationships. Approachable. Earn a reputation for leading peers towards support of what is best for the company. Cooperate with management and establish collaborative relationships with peers.
  • Customer Focus: Regularly monitors customer satisfaction. Meets internal and external customer needs in ways that provide satisfaction and excellent results for the customer. Establishes "partner" relationships with customers. Regarded as visible and accessible by customers.
  • Success Factors: Results orientated. Sound judgment and ability to balance time and multiple management responsibilities. High energy level comfortable performing multi-faceted tasks in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Superior interpersonal abilities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, flexible and a team player.

Working Conditions: This position requires frequent travel in support of achieving goals and objectives. Compensation $77,900.00 - $110,000.00
