Job description

Senior Associate of Extending Learning

At Rocketship Public Schools, we believe in the infinite possibility of human potential. We believe that every student deserves the right to dream, to discover, and to develop their unique potential and it is our responsibility and our privilege to unleash the potential inside every Rocketeer we serve. Our non-profit network of public elementary charter schools propels student achievement, develops exceptional educators, and partners with parents who enable high-quality public schools to thrive in their community. We are a collective of parents, teachers, leaders, and students working together to transform the future for underserved communities across our country. At Rocketship Public Schools, we are unleashing potential.

The Senior Associate of Extending Learning (SAEL) will work under the direction and supervision of the school site Associate Director of Extended Learning. The SAEL will lead after school based operations, support after school teams, and build strong alignment between extended learning and the instructional day.

The SAEL will work on-site at Rocketship Futuro Academy (RFA) (2351 Olivera Rd, Concord, CA 94520) and Rocketship Delta Prep (RDL) (1700 Cavallo Rd, Antioch, CA 94509). The SAEL is required to be on-site four days per week, supporting after-school programs a minimum of two days at each school during 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and one hybrid day per week dedicated to administrative and regional responsibilities. The final schedule will be determined in collaboration with their manager.

This is a full-time, year-round position (academic school year, intersession, and summer program) that requires local travel between campuses and the ability to manage workstreams across school sites and operational functions.

The salary range for this role starts at $71,000.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the site lead for 2 Extended Learning programs at RDL and RFA to ensure After School Partner alignments with Rocketship's mission, student culture, enrichments, and academic expectations.
  • Partner with school leadership and the after school partners to strategically plan and implement after-school programming that complements the instructional day.
  • Lead weekly planning and partnership meetings with RDL and RFA after-school site directors and School Leaders (bi-weekly/monthly) to align on program safety, goals, systems, logistics, staffing, and compliance.
  • Support campus-wide initiatives by ensuring after school programs are aligned with similar school operations systems, safety drills, and cultural routines.
  • Partner with the School Leaders and After School Care Site Director to co-design and implement aligned systems between the instructional day and aftercare (e.g., facilities use, transitions, snack delivery, dismissal, etc.).
  • Directly coach and track the progress of all after school program staff to ensure strong program execution and alignment with Rocketship standards.
  • Ensure all after-school programming meets Rocketship's standards and expectations for safety, student engagement, and behavior management.

Additional Extended Learning Team Support

  • In collaboration with the RDL and RFA After School Care Partners, support with the enrollment process for all 30 non-school day programs across the region (including summer, winter, and spring sessions), ensuring equitable access and full compliance with state and grant requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Extended Learning team, RDL, and RFA After School Care partners, School Leaders, to launch interest forms, create flyers, share project plan timelines, and implement effective outreach strategies to meet enrollment goals.
  • Collect and analyze family survey data related to non-school day programming needs, preferences, and satisfaction to inform planning and improve program design.
  • Monitor enrollment data and student attendance trends to inform staffing, scheduling, and program planning.
  • Lead and Support regional after school program audits and feedback.
  • Participate in annual after school program planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience, with a track record of success in strategy, operations, or program support roles in education or a nonprofit setting.
  • At least two years of experience in an after-school program setting is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Deeply aligned with Rocketship's mission to eliminate the achievement gap and firmly believe that all students can achieve academic success.
  • A creative problem-solver with the ability to design tools, systems, and supports that elevate the quality and efficiency of extended learning programming.
  • A strong communicator and collaborator, capable of building trust with diverse stakeholders, including school leaders, after-school partners, families, and staff.
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments with strong attention to detail, personal ownership, and strategic focus.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity, learning quickly, and adapting to evolving needs and structures.
  • Willing and able to travel regularly to all Rocketship East Bay school sites and the South Bay regional meeting.
  • Open to feedback and continuous improvement, and energized by building something better every day.
