2025-26 Speech Language PathologistBrilla Schools, a growing K-8 network in the Bronx, serves over 2,000 students with plans to expand to educate 3,000 across four elementary and four middle schools. Managed by Seton Education Partners, Brilla Schools are dedicated to forming students of strong wisdom and virtue. With high expectations and a supportive community, we're preparing students to excel in high school, college, and beyond.Supervised by the Assistant Principal of Student Services at the network, the Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) provides services for students with speech, language, and hearing impairments, helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum. The SLP collaborates with teachers to support high impact language intervention and evaluations. Successful NSLPs consistently help students achieve - collecting, analyzing, and implementing data-based strategies regularly for both the students on their caseload and also students that have been identified as needing additional support. The SLP is in current possession of ASHA Certification and New York State license for Speech-Language Pathology. This position requires a positive, flexible, solutions-oriented, organized, and innovative specialist.Core Competencies & ResponsibilitiesProvide evidence-based speech and language therapy to students, implementing both pull-out and push-in models based on individualized education plans (IEPs) and best practicesDevelop and implement engaging therapy activities and materials aligned with students' goalsFoster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment for students with speech and language needs, enhancing access to general education and supporting progress toward individual goalsCollaborate with teachers, learning specialists, and other service providers to integrate speech and language goals into the general curriculumDraft IEP reports in preparation for meetings and attend IEP meetings as neededProvide guidance and support to teachers and staff in assisting students with speech and language needsMaintain regular communication with families, keeping them informed of progress and providing guidance on supporting their child at homeConduct speech and language screenings for students as neededOffer support to students of various ages and linguistic backgrounds, addressing needs through a Response to Intervention-tiered modelParticipate in MTSS and IEP meetings, provide guided reading instruction, and collaborate with contracted therapistsCoach and provide consultation for fellow speech-language therapists, including writing annual IEP reports and conducting interim assessmentsProvide consultation and professional development for general education teachers and administratorsMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, progress notes, and therapy plansReport progress toward IEP goals three times per year (Goalbooks)Complete treatment notes and progress reports promptly according to school policyManage a detailed log of services provided and missed due to student or therapist absencesDocument all aspects of work with students in SESIS IEP according to school and state guidelinesPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsMaster's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school of speech language pathologyASHA Certificate of Clinical CompetenceCurrent NY license as a Speech-Language PathologistTwo years of related experience, preferably with elementary/middle school aged childrenExcellent time management skills, flexibility, and ability to work independently and problem solveEffective communication skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary teamCommitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student populationSpanish language proficiency a plusAt Brilla Schools, we celebrate the unique skills, experiences, and passions that each staff member brings to our mission.
