About The Job

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented person to manage trading documentation for the BBVA CIB Global Markets team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in negotiating and coordinating trading agreements, including ISDAs (International Swaps and Derivatives Association agreements), GMRAs (Global Master Repurchase Agreements), MRAs (Master Repurchase Agreements), CDEAs (Cleared Derivatives Execution Agreements), and other ancillary documents, including CSAs (VM and IM Credit Support Annexes), confirmations, master confirmation agreements, amendments, and other ancillary documents. This includes clients across all sectors (Corporates, Institutional and Financial Counterparties) and multiproduct (primarily Rates, FX and Equities).

Review and analyze underlying Credit Documentation (e.g., Credit Agreements, Security Agreements, Guarantees) to ensure legal and credit terms are properly aligned and consistent with derivative documentation.

Review, draft, negotiate, and manage negotiations of repo documentation and securities lending documentation (e.g., GMRAs, GMSLAs, MRAs).

Conduct due diligence and capacity and authority analysis of our counterparties.

Ensure that all agreements are in compliance with internal policies, credit approvals, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Dodd-Frank, EMIR).

Maintain and update a centralized database of all trading agreements.

Stakeholder Coordination:

Collaborate with legal, risk management, operations, sales and trading, and other internal teams to align agreement terms with business and regulatory requirements.

Serve as the primary point of contact for counterparties regarding agreement-related inquiries and negotiations.

Facilitate communication between internal departments to ensure efficient and effective agreement execution.

Ensure alignment at all times with the Global Derivatives Documentation Team.

Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare and maintain detailed records of all agreement negotiations, amendments, and terminations.

Generate regular reports on the status of agreements and present findings to senior management.

Ensure all documentation is accurately filed and easily accessible for audit and examination purposes.

Risk and Compliance:

Conduct periodic reviews of trading agreements to identify and mitigate risks.

Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting trading agreements and ensure compliance with new requirements.

Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to trading agreements.

Training and Development:

Provide training and guidance to junior staff on the specifics of trading agreements.

Stay abreast of industry best practices and continuously seek opportunities for process improvements.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree required; Juris Doctor preferred

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial markets, with a focus on trading agreements (ISDAs, GMRAs, MRAs, CDEAs, CSAs) as an attorney.

Solid experience negotiating derivatives and repo documentation with various types of entities (i.e. hedge funds, private equity funds, pension funds, investment managers, etc.) requiring entity specific tailoring of sales and trading documentation

Experience negotiating the full suite of regulatory initial margin documentation.

Understanding of collateral mechanics, netting provisions, and margin requirements.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple agreements concurrently.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Skills:
