English Learner (El) Curriculum And Parent Engagement Coordinator

Under the supervision of the English Learners (EL) Executive Director, the EL Curriculum and Parent Engagement Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of district models for teaching and learning of English-to-English Learners (EL) by using gold standard curriculum materials for English Learners.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in education and Teacher certification with an ESL endorsement, may also have Masters in TESOL.
• Has been trained in the SIOP Instructional Model.

• Oversee implementation of the district approved curriculum and resources for English Learners.
• Oversee implementation of district models for teaching and learning of EL and continue to refine the plans as
• Implement districtwide Second Language initiatives PreK-12.
• Lead the Summer School EL Program in the planning, design, and monitoring of the Assist in the implementation of research based best practices for EL scholars districtwide.
• Ensure that all language centers are aligned with the district's instructional model (Literacy Continuum).
• Coordinate selection & purchase of appropriate instructional materials to support instruction of EL according to District standards and
• Interface with community agencies involved in the resettlement of
• Coordinate efforts with other EL and Migrant Staff in expanding opportunities for parent involvement and
• Assist and plan EL districtwide parent meetings and Family Literacy c Communicate with parents of English Learners regarding their
• progress in the program (including WIDA proficiency).
• Provide training for summer school
• Provide support and training to PreK-12 principals and staff as needed in conjunction with Itinerant EL Content Focused Literacy
• Support all new staff in meeting the needs of EL
• Develop training program for paraprofessionals involved with EL
• Stay current as to scientifically research practices impacting the education of
• Participate in district wide
• Lead Professional Learning
• Coach PreK-12 staff as needed on the implementation of research based best practices and strategies for EL scholars including
• Develop rubric to monitor progress of EL by building principals in conjunction with Office of Assessment &
• Coordinate the identification, assessment, placement, and provision of services of all PreK-12 scholars with a Primary or Home Language Other Than English (PHLOTE) eligible for language
• Assist schools in monitoring exited EL scholars.
• Review and analyze scholar data (e.g., WIDA, attendance, writing prompts, NWEA, attendance, discipline) and develop appropriate action plans for
• Participate in Child Study Teams as
• Participate in the District's Bilingual Diagnostic
• Create and chair an EL Proficiency Team to support decision-making and program improvement to include administrators, parents, community members, and staff PreK-12.
• Participate in internal and external data
• Participate in Instructional
• Collect and share data on the progress of EL
• Be able to use technology to support training and classroom
• Coordinate efforts with Human Resources in the identification, recruitment, and selection of bilingual/ESL
• Participate in the District's PreK-12 Principal
• Other duties as assigned and as allowed by grant funding and by the Executive Director of PK-12 Instructional Leadership.
• Consistently demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
