Job description

Senior Carbon Management Consultant

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

We're looking for a Senior Carbon Management Consultant to join our fast-growing, committed, and enthusiastic team. Ideally, we're seeking a talented professional who is based in the United States, and align to one of our Jacobs offices, with the option to work remotely. You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this role. You will collaborate within many facets of our business and interact with the full spectrum of staff from the entry level engineers/scientists to the senior business unit leadership.

In this key role, you'll support climate change, greenhouse gas, and carbon management projects around the globe, providing technical knowledge while helping to grow our business. Working with some of the brightest minds in environmental consulting, you'll act as a senior technical consultant and strategist providing expertise and leadership in the form of project management, project technical consultant, regulatory subject matter expert, or senior QA/QC reviewer on climate change related projects. Through all your work, you'll champion quality, health, and safety. Clients will see you as their go-to contact as you build meaningful relationships by solving their toughest obstacles for managing and reducing their carbon footprint or responding to physical and transitional risks from climate change, and you'll define and lead client overall technical strategy. We'll rely on you to present complex technical information and interpretations to clients and regulatory stakeholders in a readily understandable manner. You'll apply your business development skills as you help to grow our business, working directly with our sales and client account management teams to help innovate and differentiate our service offerings. You'll be the lead to understand technical client needs and provide sustainable solutions that are practical and consider the cost benefit of carbon management and GHG strategies and options. In addition, a portion of your role will include defining technical scopes and estimating levels of effort in proposals.

Bring your expertise in carbon management and desire to work on tough problems, and we'll empower you to deliver the boldest solutions for our clients.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 15 years' plus experience in carbon management.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, basic/applied science (such as physics, chemistry, material science, earth sciences, etc.), or a similar discipline.
  • Experience speaking with client senior executives in corporate, industrial, or local government sectors, at conferences, and to internal company learning networks about greenhouse gas inventories and mitigation strategies, and the physical risks to infrastructure, facilities, and supply chains caused by climate change.
  • Knowledge of corporate, municipal, and project based GHG inventories and the guidance documents to support their development.
  • Experience in carbon markets including developing carbon offset projects, writing new carbon offset methodologies, assisting clients in taking carbon emissions to market, and assisting other clients in acquisition of offsets for their own needs.
  • Ability to lead and manage a diverse team of remote practitioners.
  • Experience scoping, pricing, and writing winning proposals for climate change and other sustainability projects and then managing projects after the award to achieve successful delivery.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Master's degree in engineering, environmental science, basic/applied science (such as physics, chemistry, material science, earth sciences, etc.), or a similar discipline.
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen.
  • Expert knowledge and past track record for delivery of climate risk and opportunity analysis per TCFD frameworks, and supporting our clients' climate change disclosures via CDP and similar programs.
  • Strong knowledge of science-based target setting (via the SBTi program) for GHG reductions, including Scope 3 GHG emissions estimation and supply chain engagement strategies.
  • Background with environmental life cycle analyses, in particular carbon footprint of industrial products and infrastructure projects, and management of embodied carbon of concrete and steel and experience with environmental life cycle assessments of assets, infrastructure, and/or products.
  • Experience with delivery of projects involving the nexus of sustainable transportation, resilience, decarbonization, and social value.

Our health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about. Your health. Your well-being. Your security. Your future. Employees have access to medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discount. Eligible employees may also enroll in a deferred compensation plan or the Executive Deferral Plan. Jacobs has an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for full-time salaried/exempt employees, seven paid holidays, and caregiver leave. And certain roles may be eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, performance discretionary bonus, and stock.

The base salary range for this position is $132,900.00 to $195,690.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.

Job posted on June 23, 2026. This position will be open for at least 3 days.

At Jacobs, we're partnering across the globe to create the best project outcomes by maximizing the design, digital technology, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teammates. By joining Jacobs, you'll commit to supporting and engaging with these teams, as we work to build a company like no other.

We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.

Your application experience is important to us, and we're keen to adapt to make every interaction even better. If you require further support or reasonable adjustments with regards to the recruitment process (for example, you require the application form in a different format), please contact the team via Careers Support.
