The Admissions Coordinator responds to all request for mental health services received at the hospital and completes assessments to determine a level of care. Acute psychiatric inpatient and Partial Hospitalization Services are available to adolescents (ages -) and to adults (ages and older). Patients admitted will meet clinical and financial criteria established by the hospital. This position actively supports, promotes and works to fulfill the Mission, Vision and Values of Forest View Hospital using our Service Excellence program.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Oversees the in-patient/out-patient functions, bed assignments, and the completion of preliminary paperwork for patients seeking treatment and support.
- Works collaboratively with medical, nursing and business office personnel to ensure appropriate patient placement.
- Upon arrival, escorts the patient to an available consultation room, takes vitals, collects patient belongings and wands the patient to ensure safety.
- Confirms that all insurance benefits coverage meets standards of admissions as dictated by policy and procedures.
- Reviews patient consent forms, obtains necessary signatures, and copies patient identification and insurance cards.
- Takes the patient picture and prints necessary stickers for patient files as needed.
- Organizes and enters patient information into the database consistent with hospital policies and procedures.
- Monitors and updates the bed boards as needed.
- Completes the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) log consistent with hospital policy and procedures.
- Responds to patient needs in a timely manner. Performs visual safety rounds every - minutes or less to ensure patient safety.
- Escorts the patient and their belongings to the assigned unit, introducing them to nursing staff before leaving.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
