Job description

Slot Department Supervisor

Supervises the activities of the Slot Department with special emphasis on ensuring the delivery of focus to all slot customers by slot employees.

Essential job functions include:

  • Delivering focus through the supervision of slot employees to ensure the delivery of "great time, every time" to all guests.
  • Managing the day-to-day operation of Slot service on assigned shift.
  • Monitoring appearance of all facilities and service areas and following up to ensure cleanliness standards are at the highest level.
  • Monitoring staffing levels, bank/floor assignments daily and weekly schedules to include breaks.
  • Directly responsible for training slot employees, providing each with the knowledge and appropriate direction to perform his/her responsibilities.
  • Monitoring compliance with all established company, departmental and regulatory agency rules and regulations.
  • Providing training, feedback, and disciplinary action regarding rules and regulations.
  • Providing each employee with clear directives needed to meet departmental standards and achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Exhibiting sound decision-making qualities, motivating personnel and exhibiting effective supervisory skills.
  • Possessing a thorough working knowledge of the various types of slot machines, their functions, malfunctions and layout schedules.
  • Maintaining security of all games, money, and employees.
  • Taking advantage of opportunity to build long term relationships with customers.
  • Routinely striving to build and maintain rapport with Slot players and handling customer disputes, making every effort to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Ensuring that all performance reviews, disciplinary notices, and superior job performance notices are complete, on time and accurate.
  • Monitoring the performance of all employees and providing training and coaching as necessary.
  • Making recommendations to the Slot Shift Manager and/or the Director of Operations to improve the efficiency of the department and build business.
  • Building a rapport and coordinating daily functions with support service departments.
  • Acting as role model and always presenting oneself as a credit to LAD and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Meeting the attendance guidelines of the job and adhering to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Spending the majority of time interviewing, training, and selecting employees.
  • Conducting performance reviews.
  • Making or recommending wage increases.
  • Making or recommending promotions.
  • Providing for safety and security.
  • Handling employees' complaints or grievances.
  • Recommending disciplinary action or disciplining employees.
  • Planning work.
  • Supervising and monitoring work.
  • Monitoring legal compliance with federal, state, and gaming laws.

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma required.
  • One (1) year casino experience required, preferably in slot operation.
  • Must possess strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Previous guest contact experience required.
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of slot floor operations.
  • Must have strong knowledge of the various internal written and verbal codes/abbreviations.
  • Must project professionalism and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous knowledge of casino rules, regulations and procedures pertinent to Slot operations is required.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Demands necessary to complete essential job functions include:

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items.
  • Must be able to walk and be on feet for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in stressful situations.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.

Work environment includes:

  • Must have a sense of urgency and keep up with fast paced business practices.
  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino.
  • Able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke, high noise levels, bright lights, and dust.
