Residence Manager

Under the supervision of program leadership, the Residence Manager is responsible for the daily operations of a residential program, ensuring a safe, supportive, and person-centered living environment for individuals with developmental disabilities. This role provides direct supervision to the residential staff, oversees facility management, and ensures compliance with OPWDD regulations and agency standards. The Residence Manager plays a key role in supporting independence, well-being, and community inclusion for the people we support, while maintaining a high standard of care and operational excellence.

The duties and responsibilities of Residence Manager will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate the treatment and service plans for the people we support.
  • Ensures the health, safety, and dignity of the people we support are maintained at all times.
  • Oversees medical care needs, including medication administration and coordination with clinical staff.
  • Supports the people we support in developing daily living skills, promoting independence in household tasks, personal care, and community participation.
  • Advocates on behalf of the people we support with programs, employers, healthcare providers, and community organizations to ensure appropriate services and opportunities.
  • Coordinates transportation and ensures availability and maintenance of adaptive equipment.
  • Supports the hiring, orientation, training, scheduling, and supervises residential staff, ensuring adequate coverage across all shifts, including holidays and emergencies. This may include covering shifts, if needed.
  • Provides ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Ensures staff participation in mandatory trainings, team meetings, and in-service development.
  • Promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, and person-centered support.
  • Manages the physical program, including maintenance, safety systems, and equipment inspections.
  • Ensures compliance with OPWDD, agency policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees household finances, including bank accounts for the people we support, payroll, petty cash, and supply inventory.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation, including residential records, incident reports, and administrative reports.
  • Prepares for and participates in audits, inspections, and quality assurance reviews.
  • Responds to medical and behavioral emergencies with sound judgment and in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Provides first aid, CPR, and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Ensures that staff follow all behavior management guidelines and that incidents are reported and addressed promptly.
  • Acts as a liaison with families, guardians, and external stakeholders to maintain open communication and collaboration.
  • Participates in agency committees, trainings, and professional development as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or managerial experience, preferably in a residential or developmental disabilities setting.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License in good standing required.
  • Must be AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel) certified or eligible for certification.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and support staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with the people we support, families, staff, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of OPWDD regulations and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.

$26.16 - $27.80/hour (after probation) + Industry-Leading Benefits for all full-time employees.
