Special Projects Editor
Reports To: Coordinator, Special Projects Salary: This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position at 232 days, with a salary in the range of $63,972 - $69,286.
Job Summary (Primary Purpose): Provide editorial, research, project management, and technical expertise to develop products and facilitate events for Special Projects' programs.
Required Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certificates): Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university Minimum two (2) years' experience in product development or operational support Experience in complex projects
Preferred Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certificates): Knowledge of Adobe InDesign Proficiency with editorial content review and publishing print or digital products Ability to develop a product from inception to completion: organizing content, developing structure, applying branding, completing edits, and managing production and publication
Knowledge and Skills: Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills Skill operating within a complex project, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines Knowledge of editorial rules and best practice including grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, quality assurance, etc. in both print and digital formats Skill providing customer support and facilitating in-person or virtual meetings utilizing an array of technologies Knowledge of ADA/504 accessibility standards and accessibility tools for digital products Experience with project management, including development and implementation of work flows and timelines and experience with project management programs such as Smartsheet, SharePoint, and Google Suite. Knowledge of web development practices, including content review, quality assurance, site usability Skill editing content in CMS and/or LMS platforms Knowledge of copyright and permissions clearing processes Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office 365, and Smartsheet applications
Major Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public Produce professional development products for distribution through print and online digital channels, ensuring all products are ADA compliant Provide editorial review of products, including internalization and application of style guides to written content and design formatting Host video conference meetings, create run of show plans, provide support to presenters and staff, and run follow-up reports (hosting/managing meetings), support face-to-face meetings Create efficient systems for specific project objectives, managing work with digital tools like Smartsheet, SharePoint, Google Suite Conduct quality assurance review of documents, books, online courses, videos and resources (copyediting, usability, etc.) Support video production, including script review, filming support, footage review, communicating and verifying edits, creating or copyediting captions Manage online resources in CMS or LMS platforms, such as Canvas Create and maintain technical assistance documents for processes Provide research and inquiry on industry trends and the appropriate direction for projects as they evolve Perform other duties as assigned
