Our mission makes AIDB a unique place to work.ABOUT THE ROLESTEM Academy is a 3-week intensive, specialized program designed for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) high school students who will be entering 10th-12th grade in the Fall of 2026, or who are graduating in the Spring of 2026. The program is specifically designed to: Close academic gaps and strengthen foundational skills in core subjects Build ASL and English literacy through immersive, accessible instruction Cultivate college readiness by developing leadership skills Expand career horizons by exploring diverse STEM pathways and professional opportunitiesABOUT YOUAs the Residential Lead, you will collaborate with the NRSC team to ensure a safe, structured, and supportive home-away-from-home environment for students. You will lead the residential team in fostering a community that encourages independence, social growth, and student success. The residential program operates seven (7) days a week during the summer, therefore, working hours will vary.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Possess a sign language proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE PLUS according to the AIDB evaluation system.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Prior experience working with individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Prior experience in overnight supervision of youth in a residential or dormitory setting. Prior experience in supervising overnight residential or dormitory staff.POSITION REQUIREMENTS Serve as the lead supervisor for the residential program, working directly with students, residential staff, and NRSC STEM Academy leadership. Direct staff to their duty stations and ensure all team members understand supervision expectations. Synchronize with the academic team for smooth morning transitions and with the recreation team for evening transitions. Ensure daily posting of calendars and announcements; maintain accurate dormitory chronicles and records. Ensure students follow bedtime routines, conduct regular bed checks, and supervise students during mealtimes and cafeteria escorts. Enforce dormitory rules fairly and respectfully while modeling professional dress, behavior, and social interaction skills. Administer medication as directed with accurate record-keeping, escort students to the health center as needed, and respond to emergencies calmly. Perform housekeeping duties as needed and promptly report maintenance needs or damages to the NRSC Director. Assist students with daily living skills, including cooking activities, laundry services (washing/ironing), and personal organization. Communicate effectively and professionally with all individuals, ensuring full access for those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
