We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide clinical risk leadership, expertise, and service to facilitate the management of the overall operation, tactics, and strategy of clinical risk management and patient safety processes.
The Clinical Risk Manager - Consultant provides clinical risk leadership, expertise, and service to support the organizations risk management and patient safety initiatives. They oversee and coordinate the review of reported risk events, patient adverse events, and sentinel events. The role involves managing ongoing analysis, development, and implementation of methods and systems to improve safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of clinical risk management functions. The Risk Manager analyzes incident report data, identifies organizational process improvement needs, and facilitates interdisciplinary efforts to enhance patient safety. They participate in insurance-related risk activities, including claims mitigation, and assume leadership in response to serious patient events.
Key responsibilities include overseeing and coordinating the review of risk events, adverse events, and sentinel events; analyzing incident report data to identify trends and areas for improvement; developing and implementing strategies, methods, and systems to improve safety and risk mitigation; facilitating interdisciplinary efforts to identify and implement patient safety improvements; participating in insurance-related risk management activities, including claims mitigation; providing leadership and guidance in responding to serious patient safety events; ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards, State Board of Health requirements, and relevant federal and state laws; and supporting ongoing education and training initiatives related to patient safety and risk management.
Qualifications and requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field required, with Nursing preferred; a Masters Degree is preferred; certification in healthcare risk management (CPHRM) required within 4 years of hire; 7-10 years of relevant clinical experience; minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with quality or safety experience being a plus and leadership experience preferred; knowledge of state and federal laws related to healthcare; and demonstrated mastery of Joint Commission standards and State Board of Health requirements related to patient safety and sentinel events.
