Saab, Inc. has a career opportunity for a dynamic, results-oriented Materials Supervisor to join the Supply Chain team in Cranston, RI. As a Materials Supervisor, you will be a member of the Supply Chain Management team and will have a direct impact on performance in the receiving, stockroom, and shipping departments, with a team of material handlers as direct reports. Once our Bristol, RI facility is open for occupancy, the individual in this role will be expected to travel between the two facilities at least once per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead activities related to the receiving, storing, shipping of materials or finished goods, and material movement.
  • Advocate for a safety-first work environment by prioritizing safety in work processes, deploying ergonomic and safe handling practices, conducting routine safety talks, equipment training and audits, and partnering with the internal safety representative.
  • Incorporate 5S and 6S principles and controls throughout the departments.
  • Support packaging and shipping activities that are compliant with contractual requirements and company policy.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop pack and ship schedules that meet program contract dates and on-time delivery (OTD) metrics.
  • Serve as process owner for incoming receiving to ensure purchase orders are accurately maintained and materials received are correct (e.g., part numbers, quantities, and damage-free condition).
  • Utilize inventory control measures such as cycle counting to ensure inventory accuracy between the physical stockroom/warehouse and the MRP system.
  • Ensure stockroom materials are picked, prepared, and delivered to manufacturing to meet production schedules with a high level of quality and accuracy.
  • Establish, modify, and communicate standardized work, policies, and procedures, and lead continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Own department performance metrics, including data collection, analysis of actual performance versus targets, and development or refinement of KPIs.
  • Report on metrics related to activities such as cycle counting and on-time delivery to internal and external customers.
  • Develop and execute action plans based on metrics analysis to drive performance improvement and process effectiveness.
  • Identify staffing needs and partner with HR to recruit, interview, and hire candidates.
  • Develop training plans and provide ongoing employee feedback to support development of receiving, stockroom, and shipping material handlers.
  • Support internal and external process audits in the incoming, stockroom, and shipping departments.
  • Collaborate with incoming inspection and program teams to ensure timely processing of materials to support business revenue goals.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% annually in support of program and business development effort.

Compensation Range: $89,000 - $111,200

The compensation range provided is a general guideline.
