Job description

Lab Phlebotomist

Join a dedicated healthcare team as a Lab Phlebotomist, where your skill in specimen collection will directly support patient care and diagnostic accuracy. This role offers the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings, engaging with diverse patient populations while demonstrating your expertise in phlebotomy and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Draw blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric cases, following established procedures to ensure safety and accuracy.
  • Prepare specimens for lab testing, verifying patient demographics and labeling samples in the presence of patients.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of collections and patient information.
  • Create a caring and professional environment, building trust and confidence with patients during specimen collection.
  • Perform specimen processing and verification activities according to established practices.
  • Operate in a high-volume setting, managing multiple priorities efficiently and effectively.
  • Contribute to a safe, compliant, and positive workplace environment, adhering to policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards.

Required Skills

  • Proven phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure error-free specimen handling and documentation
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Keyboard and data entry proficiency

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington
  • 13 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
  • Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment highly preferred
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and a clean driving record if applicable
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
  • Ability to travel between multiple locations with minimal notice
