Job Summary
This role focuses on ensuring the accounting compliance of Transmission cost collectors and supporting the accurate development of project accounting across multiple operating companies and subsidiaries. The Assistant Project Specialist navigates, investigates, and interprets asset ownership utilizing multiple client systems, supports financial forecasting and reporting, and collaborates with cross-functional transmission and distribution business groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the accounting compliance of Transmission cost collectors.
- Determine correct asset ownership and incorporate in the development of the project accounting.
- Navigate, investigate, and interpret asset ownership utilizing multiple client systems and help ensure the systems are aligned. Report any discrepancies.
- Determine correct project accounting settlement rules relating to Operating Companies, voltage, capital, removal, and O&M of project accounting.
- Support the financial forecasting group with project accounting issues, CIAC (make the necessary system entries to ensure accurate posting).
- Support the Transmission Portfolio Development group by creating project accounting and work orders in SAP for projects approved in the Transmission Portfolio.
- Confirm that the correct accounting and work orders are mapped to the appropriate project.
- Run master data queries; ensure the integrity of the Master Data in SAP and PowerPlan is accurate; make the necessary modifications as required.
- Request new project locations in the client's system for proper work order creation, tracking, and unitization.
- Support ad hoc research of accounting and work orders.
- Support the monthly financial reporting process.
- Support Transmission Forecast Tool.
- Collaborate with the Transmission Business Services, FERC & Wholesale, Asset Management, and Distribution companies.
- Provide project accounting reviews for Project Managers in support of releasing projects into execution.
- Enter assets for various departments and subsidiaries.
- Support the capital assets group with work order creation and tax codes.
- Assist with project tracking.
Required Skills
- Solid finance background.
- Experience in financial forecasting and project accounting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Power BI, MS Excel, Oracle, and SAP is helpful, but not required.
- Prior experience in construction, T&D, engineering, energy, or a similar industry is preferred, but not required.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, communications, construction management, or related degree and some experience Required.
- Associate Degree and minimum 2 years of experience Required.
- High School Diploma/GED and minimum 4 years of related experience Required.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or related discipline highly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related field required per hiring criteria.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience (with Associate Degree) or minimum 4 years of related experience (with High School Diploma/GED).
- Experience in financial forecasting and project accounting.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Prior experience in construction, T&D, engineering, energy, or a similar industry preferred, but not required.
