Job Summary:
Pathology Assistant (PA) — located in San Francisco, California. This role involves integrating knowledge, theory, and practice to execute procedures in the laboratory's pathology department. The position requires performing gross dissection, specimen processing, intra-procedural consultations, post-mortem examinations, and supporting laboratory operations to ensure accurate diagnostics and patient care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Evening shifts with 8 hours per shift, minimum 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Certified Pathologists' Assistant (PA) from the ASCP, valid California State License, at least 2 years of experience, and applicable certifications with valid expiration dates
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a high-volume acute care hospital setting, proficiency in grossing specimens, and familiarity with intra-procedural consultations and post-mortem procedures
• Additional Information: Responsible for specimen receipt, processing, archival, validation testing, troubleshooting, and supporting compliance efforts. Performs complex specimen grossing, intra-procedural consultations including gross examinations and frozen sectioning, and all aspects of post-mortem examinations including specimen dissection, documentation, and ancillary processes such as decalcification, photography, and x-ray imaging. Ensures proper tissue management, auditing accessioning and coding, troubleshooting, and participates in validation of new methodologies.
