Job description

Administrator I

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Communications and Community Outreach Coordinator

This is highly responsible professional, communications, and administrative work supporting the mission of the State Attorney's Office. The employee serves as the office's primary coordinator for public communications, social media, community outreach, and executive engagement activities.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for all official office social media accounts and platforms.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the office's social media strategy and communications initiatives.
  • Create, edit, schedule, and publish social media content, including written posts, graphics, photographs, videos, and other digital media.
  • Monitor social media activity and public engagement and prepare periodic reports regarding reach, effectiveness, audience engagement, and emerging trends.
  • Draft press releases, public statements, newsletters, speeches, presentations, reports, correspondence, and other written communications.
  • Identify, coordinate, schedule, and manage speaking engagements, community presentations, civic events, educational programs, and outreach opportunities for the State Attorney, and serve as the primary point of contact regarding these events.
  • Prepare briefing materials, background information, talking points, presentation materials, and follow-up correspondence related to speaking engagements and public events.
  • Attend community events, meetings, and public appearances as assigned, including events occurring outside normal business hours.
  • Follow up with event organizers, community partners, elected officials, civic organizations, schools, professional associations, and other stakeholders to maintain and expand outreach opportunities.
  • Maintain and update databases of community organizations, governmental agencies, educational institutions, civic groups, and other stakeholders to support outreach and engagement efforts.
  • Coordinate office publications, informational materials, training resources, annual reports, and public education initiatives.
  • Coordinate and track assigned projects, action items, deadlines, and follow-up activities for management personnel to ensure timely completion of initiatives and objectives.
  • Maintain confidential information and exercise discretion regarding sensitive criminal justice matters, personnel matters, strategic communications, and other protected information.
  • Perform other administrative responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, public administration, political science, criminal justice, business administration, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional correspondence, reports, speeches, presentations, newsletters, social media content, and public information materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and manage multiple competing priorities with limited supervision.
  • Experience coordinating projects, events, schedules, outreach initiatives, public-facing activities, or executive support functions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with attorneys, law enforcement personnel, government officials, community organizations, members of the media, and the general public.
  • Experience with website content management, digital communications, graphic design software, photography, video production, or related communications tools is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in a prosecutor's office, law enforcement agency, court system, governmental agency, elected official's office, or other public-sector environment.
  • Experience with graphic design, photography, video editing, website administration, content management systems, or related communications technologies.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver License and maintenance of an acceptable driving record throughout employment.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Eighth Judicial Circuit and other locations as required for meetings, events, training, and official business.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, early mornings, weekends, holidays, and other non-standard business hours when necessary to support community outreach events, speaking engagements, media activities, office functions, and other official duties.
  • Ability to attend public meetings, civic events, educational programs, and community functions on behalf of the State Attorney's Office.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding criminal investigations, prosecution matters, personnel issues, strategic communications, and other sensitive information.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain authorization to access criminal justice information, confidential records, and other restricted information as required for assigned duties.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background investigation.
  • Ability to use office technology, communications equipment, social media platforms, content management systems, databases, and related software necessary to perform assigned duties.
  • Availability by telephone, email, or other approved communication methods outside normal business hours when operational needs require.
  • Ability to represent the State Attorney's Office in a professional, courteous, impartial, and ethical manner at all times.

Starting Salary: $35,678 to $45,000 starting salary based on education and experience. Excellent State Benefits. Drug free workplace, EOE/AA.
