Program Assistant
The Center for Professional Boards and Licensing is seeking a high-level Program Assistant to provide implementation of healthcare professional licensure compacts related to the Rural Health Transformation Program. This person will work closely with the Chief of Program Development to anticipate changes to the impacted licenses, update applications and check lists, train other staff on questions they may get from the public, handle customer service-related issues, escalate issues to the Chief when necessary, and perform other tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities include assisting a high-level state official by performing moderately complex administrative and supportive tasks involved in the implementation and administration of major projects and programs whose effects encompass all departments and agencies of state government. This includes initiating, preparing, and distributing correspondence, overseeing official agency files and records, gathering information for administrative decisions, relieving a superior of administrative details, requisitioning office supplies and equipment, screening inquiries regarding agency policies and programs, attending conferences and meetings on behalf of a superior, and preparing reports thereof.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include a working knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and modern office management, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff, effective implementation procedures for policies and procedures, preparing accurate and concise written reports, strong attention to detail, and strong communication skills. Education and experience should include at least two years of academic study in an accredited institution of higher education and considerable employment in a position of state government assisting a high-level state official by performing moderately complex administrative and supportive tasks involved in the implementation and administration of major projects and programs that had effect on all departments or agencies.
