Job Title: Sr Principal Test Engineer Location: On-Site - Cypress, CAEmployment Type: Direct HireIndustry: Defense & Aerospace Compensation: $170k - $220k Shift: 1stSchedule: 9x80 About the Opportunity:As a Senior Integration & Test Engineer (Level IV/V), you will play a lead role in advancing space-based infrared (IR) imaging systems by driving end-to-end test strategy, execution, and system characterization. You'll work at the intersection of optical, electrical, and software domains, leading technical teams and collaborating directly with customers to deliver high-performance solutions for aerospace missions. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives in complex environments and enjoys combining hands-on testing with technical leadership and strategic impact. What You'll Do: -Lead the development and execution of comprehensive test strategies, including requirements definition, test plans, and detailed procedures-Perform imaging system testing and characterization, including optical, spectral, and performance measurements-Execute testing in lab and cleanroom environments, diagnosing and resolving issues across electrical, software, and optical systems-Analyze and process image and spectral data, delivering clear, accurate reports and insights-Develop and maintain MATLAB scripts to automate data analysis and improve testing efficiency-Lead AI&T activities and technical teams, supporting task planning, prioritization, and successful program execution-Interface directly with customers, delivering technical presentations, status updates, and supporting proposal development, cost estimates, and growth initiatives About Acara SolutionsAcara is a premier recruiting and workforce solutions provider-we help companies compete for talent.
