Job description
This entry‑level role focuses on designing tooling and workholding solutions that support high‑precision CNC machining operations. The position works closely with engineers, machinists, and shop‑floor personnel to develop, test, and refine fixtures that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Client Details The company specializes in high‑precision CNC‑machined components produced from both standard and exotic materials. Its capabilities span CNC milling, turning, grinding, secondary operations, finishing, deburring, and specialized processing, all supported by engineering, innovation, and quality assurance teams. Description Assist in designing CNC workholding fixtures for milling, turning, and secondary operations to improve stability, repeatability, and production throughput. Develop and maintain detailed 2D/3D CAD models and drawings for fixtures, soft jaws, nests, clamps, and related tooling components. Collaborate with engineering staff, tool room machinists, and CNC operators to evaluate fixture concepts, gather feedback, and support fabrication/debug efforts. Participate in fixture prove‑outs on the shop floor; document performance and implement revisions as needed. Contribute to process documentation, including setup sheets, work instructions, tooling lists, and basic process flows. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing cycle time, minimizing scrap, and improving safety/ergonomics. Assist in root cause investigations for fixture‑ or process‑related quality issues and help implement corrective actions. Promote standardization of tooling/fixture components and support basic tooling inventory practices. Update documentation as engineering changes affect fixtures, gaging, or process steps. Work with Quality and Inspection teams to ensure fixture designs meet print requirements and support effective measurement strategies. Follow all safety guidelines and assist in implementing EHS requirements related to machine guarding, clamping forces, and safe setup practices. Profile Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (0-2 years of experience). Foundational understanding of machining principles, workholding concepts, and how fixturing impacts quality. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and basic familiarity with GD&T. Working knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks preferred, equivalents acceptable). Strong problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail, and willingness to work hands‑on in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
