Direct Support Professional - Daily Living Skills (MHRT-1, Paid Training) | $18-$22/hr

Make a difference in your own community MC Community Services is building its Section 17 Community Support Services line, and we're hiring Daily Living Support (DLS) Workers to help adults living with serious mental illness build and keep the everyday skills that let them live as independently as possible.In this hands-on, home-and-community-based work, you'll help the people you work with become active, contributing members of their communities, working from their own goals, interests, and strengths.What you'll do You'll provide one-on-one support to adults with mental illness, in their homes and out in the community, following each person's individual support plan.A typical week might include:Planning and cooking a meal together to build healthy eating and kitchen skills.Working through a monthly budget, paying bills, or practicing money skills at the store.Setting up and keeping a routine for housekeeping, personal care, and medications.Riding along on the bus or planning a route to teach independent transportation.Helping someone connect with people, places, groups, and activities they care about.Coaching someone through big emotions, recognizing symptoms, and staying safe.You'll also document your visits accurately and on time (per MaineCare Section 17 requirements), keep in regular contact with your supervisor and the person's care team, and always protect the privacy and dignity of the people you serve.Who we're looking for High school diploma or equivalent.A genuine interest in supporting adults with mental illness toward greater independence.Patience, reliability, sound judgment, and comfort working independently in the community.Able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English, and to keep accurate records.Required to be hired:Valid State of Maine driver's license in good standing and a safe and reliable vehicle.At least 18 years of age.Access to a cell phone.Successful completion of background-check requirements in accordance with MC and MaineCare requirements.A plus (but not required):MHRT-1 (Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician/1) certification.Prior direct care, behavioral health, residential, or community support experience.CPR / First Aid or CRMA certification.Get paid to earn your MHRT-1 MHRT-1 is the certification for Daily Living Support staff under MaineCare Section 17 -- and you don't need it to be hired.We'll invest in you:MC pays for your MHRT-1 training and certification.New staff who don't already hold it begin the process shortly after hire and complete it within the first year.Already certified? You'll start higher in the wage band.We also provide and pay for other required trainings, including CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter, and any program-required certifications.Schedule This is a part-time position, and we'll build a consistent, predictable schedule with you around the needs of the people you support.Hours are generally daytime and early evening, with some flexibility depending on caseload and location.If you need a schedule that works around school, family, or another job, let's talk.What we offer $17.00-$22.00 per hour -- a posted range, not discussed at interview.
