Senior Analyst, System
Perform complex computer information systems analysis and technical application design and development work. Essential functions include analyzing existing procedures for efficiency and effectiveness, designing, coding, and implementing new or revised methods that more effectively meet departmental and institutional needs, applying application development project management methodologies to all projects, large and small, preparing charts, diagrams and tables depicting the proposed systems in terms of cost, tasks, and schedule, preparing business process diagrams and other information portraying the movement of work through the organizational elements, formulating logical descriptions of problems and devising optimum solutions, monitoring and assisting in facilitating the progress of assigned projects, providing regular updates on projects status and on requirements for additional implementations of new functionality and enhancements, coordinating with information technology personnel, consultants and other external resources to ensure efficient and effective resource utilization, monitoring the interface of systems/subsystems and software applicants, evaluating and recommending action on testing and implementation of software/hardware upgrades, providing technical support for new or enhanced systems and ancillary applications, recommending and providing specifications for requirement gaps, interfaces, enhancements and workflow, serving as a project leader, overseeing the planning, development, troubleshooting, testing and implementation of enhancements to application software systems, analyzing technology needs for business applications, monitoring progress of projects against approved plans and schedules, and researching and recommending appropriate hardware, software and network solutions pertaining to application area of responsibility.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or Engineering, 8 years directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of required degree, 5 years experience working with computer information systems, peoplesoft applicants: experience with peoplesoft version 9.2 pumxx online applications for any of the following modules finance, human resources and student administration, extensive experience with peoplecode, peopletools; application designer, sqr and sql; familiarity with bi reporting, crystal reporting; peoplesoft portal, integration broker, oracle, ldap & solaris preferred, web focused applicants: proficiency in html, sql, xml and oracle with emphasis on web related software system design, implementation and support in various genres; data warehousing design, implementation and support experience preferred, experience with business productivity applications, applying continuous business process improvement techniques preferred, experience in coding and design of web based solutions required, experience working in a team environment required, valid texas driver license, ms office programs, information management systems, enterprise systems and change control processes, quantitative methodology competencies delivering high quality work, accepting responsibility, serving customers, supporting organizational goals, driving continuous improvement, acting with integrity, thinking critically, managing change, communicating effectively.
