Job Description:
As a GCP Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, automating, and supporting enterprise cloud infrastructure within a Google Cloud Platform environment. You will serve as the primary infrastructure lead for cloud migration and modernization initiatives, leveraging Infrastructure as Code, DevOps methodologies, and cloud-native technologies to deliver secure, scalable, and highly available solutions. This role requires strong expertise in cloud architecture, automation, networking, security, observability, and operational support within large-scale enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage Google Cloud Platform infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code methodologies
- Develop and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure deployments integrated with CI/CD pipelines
- Establish and govern cloud standards, operational procedures, and best practices for secure cloud adoption
- Configure and support highly available networking environments including VPCs, Shared VPCs, and cloud compute services
- Implement cloud security controls and collaborate with security teams to embed governance standards into reusable infrastructure templates
- Manage cloud identity, access controls, user provisioning, and permissions in alignment with IAM policies
- Design and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and reporting capabilities to ensure platform health and visibility
- Evaluate emerging Google Cloud technologies and recommend enhancements to support modernization initiatives
- Provide Tier-2 operational support, incident troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for cloud-based environments
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support for production systems
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and operations teams to support cloud migration projects and platform improvements
- Maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures for cloud environments
- Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and high-availability planning efforts
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform infrastructure and foundational cloud services
- 5+ years of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using Terraform or similar technologies
- Strong experience with cloud computing, networking, storage, security, and automation technologies
- Experience deploying and managing enterprise-scale infrastructure in Google Cloud environments
- Strong understanding of Linux and Windows-based infrastructure within cloud environments
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments
- Knowledge of cloud networking concepts including VPCs, routing, load balancing, and connectivity solutions
- Experience implementing cloud security controls, governance, and access management practices
- Strong scripting skills using Bash, Python, PowerShell, and YAML
- Experience with container technologies and modern infrastructure automation practices
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to support mission-critical environments and participate in on-call operations
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification (preferred)
- Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer certification (preferred)
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar CI/CD platforms (preferred)
- Experience supporting enterprise cloud migration and modernization initiatives (preferred)
- Familiarity with disaster recovery, observability, and enterprise cloud governance frameworks (preferred)
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $50.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
