An automotive manufacturer needs a hands-on Senior Manufacturing Engineer to optimize CNC machining and lead process development on the shop floor. This is a working-engineer role for someone who loves programming, troubleshooting, and driving real improvement.
What You'll Own
- Optimize machining processes to improve OEE, reduce scrap, and increase throughput
- Develop, modify, and validate CNC programs for lathes and milling machines (vertical and horizontal)
- Lead toolpath development and cutting-strategy optimization for automotive components
- Select optimal tooling, inserts, and workholding solutions
- Troubleshoot cycle time, tool wear, chatter, and dimensional variation
- Partner with Quality on process capability (Cp/Cpk) and first-piece validation
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of CNC programming and machining experience in automotive manufacturing
- Expertise in CNC lathes and milling machines (Fuji and Mori Seiki a plus)
- Proficiency in Mastercam (or similar CAM) and AutoCAD
- Strong GD&T, blueprint reading, and tolerance stack-ups
- Experience with CMMs, Zoller tool presetters, and measurement systems
- Knowledge of carbide tooling, inserts, and tool holders, plus hydraulic and pneumatic fixtures
- Strong SPC, capability studies, and hands-on shop-floor troubleshooting
Nice to Have
- High-volume automotive production and multi-axis machining experience
- ERP/MES familiarity and Six Sigma or Lean certification
- Bilingual English/Spanish
