Job description

Public And Community Programs Coordinator

Imagine Children's Museum is looking for a Public And Community Programs Coordinator. The behind-the-scenes force who turns a great program idea into a fully staged, fully stocked, ready-to-go experience for families walking through our doors.

One day you're organizing glitter and paint, the next, you're confirming load-in times with a guest performer, prepping activity kits for a weekend festival, or troubleshooting a last-minute A/V hiccup five minutes before doors open. You're the calm, organized hub connecting artists, vendors, volunteers, and the Public Programs team, making sure everyone has what they need, when they need it, so the fun part of the program can just happen.

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Get genuine satisfaction from a well-labeled storage shelf and a perfectly timed checklist
  • Can juggle five moving parts (and five different personalities) without breaking a sweat
  • Love being the go-to person vendors and performers trust to keep things running smoothly
  • Want your work to directly fuel joyful, hands-on experiences for kids and families
  • Don't mind trading a typical 9-to-5 for evenings and weekends when the Museum comes alive

What you'll actually be doing: Scheduling and logistics. Materials prep and inventory. Coordinating performers, artists, and community partners. Setting the stage, literally, for programs, festivals, and outreach events both on-site and out in the community.

If you're an organized self-starter who finds purpose in the prep work that makes playful experiences possible, we'd love to meet you.

Come be the reason the show goes on!

Position Summary:

The Public & Community Programs Coordinator works under the supervision of the Public & Community Programs Manager and the Chief Experience Officer to coordinate logistics and produce engaging programs, activities, and events for the public offerings at Imagine Children's Museum. These experiences include hands-on STREAM Programming and Museum events, both on-site and through community outreach.

Position Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Effective problem-solving, flexibility and ability to respond quickly to changing needs or challenges.
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with various individuals.
  • Exhibits an awareness and sensitivity to cultural and other differences when working with representatives of public and private organizations, volunteers, vendors, museum staff and the general public.
  • Must be a self-starter, show attention to detail, and possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently and keep track of numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends, on-and-off-site.
  • Commitment to the Museum's culture and core values.
  • Experience working with artists and/or arts organizations is a plus.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience working within public and community programming, including activities/performances/programs that meet organizational goals, supporting external vendors, managing event support staff, complying with facilities requirements, and collaborating with external resources.

This is a full-time position, onsite in Everett. The pay is $22-25 an hour depending on experience.

Benefits: All full-time employees receive accrued sick time, vacation time, anniversary appreciation day, medical/vision/dental insurance, Life AD&D, FSA, IRA, EAP, free museum membership, discounts, and other museum perks!

The typical schedule for this position is 8:30 AM5:00 PM. Because this role supports public programs, events, and community engagement activities, applicants should expect a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends throughout the year.

Employees in this role can expect:

  • Approximately 45 evening shifts per month, with some shifts extending as late as 9:00 PM.
  • Regular weekend work, including both Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Weekend assignments that may include working both Saturday and Sunday during the same week.
  • Occasional schedule adjustments to support special events, festivals, outreach activities, and community partnerships.

Applicants should be comfortable working a schedule that regularly includes evenings, weekends, and special events.

Please submit a cover letter with your application.
