Job description
Description Summary: The Program Director Medical Imaging Education is responsible for leading system wide imaging education, clinical competency, and regulatory compliance across all imaging modalities in both acute care and ambulatory settings. This role ensures imaging staff are properly trained, competent, and survey ready while partnering with imaging leadership to standardize workflows and promote regulatory adherence. This position will oversee non technical PACS education and workflow training, serving as the clinical liaison between imaging end users and PACS administration to support effective system utilization, standardized practice, and operational readiness. Responsibilities: Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of imaging education and competency programs across all modalities, including Radiography, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Radiology. Ensure onboarding, annual competencies, and ongoing education meet organizational standards as well as regulatory, accreditation, and licensure requirements. Partner with modality leaders and imaging management to assess learning needs, competency gaps, and professional development opportunities. Maintain the ability to explain imaging technology concepts/requirements to technical and nontechnical audiences Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation Ensure continuous compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, FDA, MQSA, state radiation control programs). Lead education and documentation readiness for imaging accreditation and regulatory surveys, including DNV, ACR, MQSA, and state inspections. Develop, review, and maintain imaging specific policies, procedures, and standards related to education, competency validation, and compliance. Conduct internal audits, analyze trends, identify risks, and collaborate with imaging leaders to implement corrective and preventive actions. Work closely with Quality, Risk Management, Compliance, and Radiation Safety teams to support patient safety and regulatory alignment. Participate in imaging governance, system upgrades, and optimization initiatives from a clinical education and operational readiness perspective. PACS Education & Workflow Oversight (Non Technical) Coordinate and deliver PACS related education for imaging staff and new hires, focusing on workflow optimization, image management, documentation standards, and best practices. Develop and maintain PACS education materials, including job aids, quick reference guides, and standardized workflows. Serve as the primary clinical and operational liaison between imaging users and PACS administrators to address workflow challenges, enhancement requests, and end user adoption needs. Support imaging downtime preparedness through education, drills, and post event workflow review to ensure continuity of patient care. Job Requirements: Education/Skills Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology required Bachelor’s degree in radiologic sciences, Healthcare Administration, Education, or related field required An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered, with four (4) years of additional relevant experience substituting for a Bachelor’s degree Experience 5 years of relevant experience required Demonstrated experience in medical imaging education, competency management, regulatory compliance, or accreditation support Working knowledge of imaging accreditation standards (e.g., ACR, DNV, MQSA) and regulatory requirements Experience supporting PACS education, imaging informatics workflows, or system implementations from a clinical user perspective Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications Radiography (R) or Nuclear Medicine Technology (N) by ARRT or NMTCB required State Licensure preferred Texas: MRT by TMB Louisiana: LRT (R), (N), or (F) by LSRTBE New Mexico: RRT or NMT by MIRTP NMED In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame. Work Schedule: 8AM - 5PM Monday-Friday Work Type: Full Time
